Aodán not Aodhán

[edit]

Definitely Aodán, not Aodhán. Aodhán would be pronounced "eeawn" or "ay-awn", not "eedawn" or "aydawn". Learn some Irish sometime.Panu Petteri Höglund 15:54, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Except that there is no Irish name Aodán, and Aidan is the Anglicization of Aodhán despite the pronunciation differences. Nevertheless, there's no indication that he has ever used the Irish "back translation" of his name, any more than Rosie O'Donnell has ever called herself "Róisín Ní Dhómhnaill". —Angr 16:26, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
