Article is, was created for one of the only sources in the west for the ongoing conflict in the middle east and the war on terror as a known and used source by the media and the US government. This deletion request appears to be POV driven and is disruptive in behavior and in the spirit of the community. Deleting articles on scholars who write books that do not speak of Islam in a favorable light is counter productive to the tenets of the wikipedia community. I've removed the speedy delete tag. BUT: the deletion request doesn't seem to have been POV driven - what drove the deletion request is that you have almost no references on the article and don't assert notability. Please provide some references or this article may go to WP:AFD. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 02:03, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize but I feel this is spill over from the Islam and anti-Christian persecution which has too been nominated for deletion. I posted to that article scholars but because they where Jewish what they stated explicitly about the subject is ignored. I posted the information on Professor Khater from the dust jacket to his book on middle eastern studies. I noted the book in the Islam and anti-Christian persecution article but it was deleted as unnote worthy. LoveMonkey (talk) 14:32, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This one is likely to be deleted as well. First, you cannot copy information from a book's dust-jacket - that's copyrighted material and is not allowed. Second, this individual needs to meet Wikipedia's standards of notability. You'll note those standards apply to people no matter their religious beliefs. If those two issues aren't addressed (make sure this isn't copyrighted, and make sure he's notable), then the article may go up for deletion. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 14:39, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One the article is not a direct copy. I used the dustjack to source the content. It is not copied word for word. Also the Professor's work is used about a subject matter that has little content dedicated to it here in the West. The Professors works address the history of the middle east as it correlates to the war on terror. Thank you for your time. LoveMonkey (talk) 15:05, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life

[edit]

I'm going to undo the edits that added the Personal Life section, pending communication with Dr Khater. The personal information does not seem germane to his position as a historian, and thus the purpose of the article on him. It also conflicts with information given to his students, thus there is a question of accuracy. The IP, 152.14.233.134, is from North Carolina Research and Education Network NCREN-B14, and this it its only contribution to Wikipedia. Mplambert1 (talk) 22:22, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The entire Personal life section has been removed, in accordance with both Wikipedia biographical figure guidelines, and after consultation with Dr Khater.
