Not a rivalry

[edit]

There is no outstanding hatred for Ole Miss from Alabama fans. Ole Miss has never once won back to back games in the streak which would cause any hatred. Alabama has 5 times as many wins in the series. The schools are not even that close to each other. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.233.220.205 (talk) 23:00, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree - a little. The rivalry isn't that big of a deal these days. But it was larger than life from the 40's through the 70's so it does have history and therefore stands. - ALLST☆R echo 23:24, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Back in the 1950s and 1960s, there was a little rivalry between Bryant and Vaught.  LATICS  talk  23:39, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. While it is not as prominent of a rivalry as say Alabama-Auburn or Ole Miss-LSU, it is definitely a rivalry historically speaking in football, basketball and even baseball. And while you say they "are not even that close to each other" that is not really true, Ole Miss is the second closest school to Alabama, and one of the closest distances between two SEC schools. Just because Alabama has a large advantage in the win column, does not mean it is not a rivalry. The two schools regular fight over the same recruits, in relatively the same recruiting base and both are home to the two highest regarded coaches in SEC football history. Just a few of the small tidbits of the rivalry. Rtr10 (talk) 07:29, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This article is totally unreferenced. A reliable, third-party source needs to be cited stating that this is a genuine rivalry. As the article stands it's just a list of results between two teams that have played each other often. Dancarney (talk) 09:58, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vacated games

[edit]

I'm bringing up this issue on all the talk forums of Alabama's rivalry games. Alabama's record is 42-9-2 now with the 3 wins vacated. However, Ole Miss's record in the series is 9-45-2, because the vacated wins still count as losses for Ole Miss. Perhaps for all affected articles, the series record should be presented for both teams, now that they aren't the same? CH52584 (talk) 17:21, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article does not show the now vacated/forfeited victories by Ole Miss in 2014 and 2015. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.18.77.172 (talk) 15:18, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Prod

[edit]

Tide rolls, I just prodded this. What do you think? And can you do me a favor and notify the creator? I'm mobile--watching Ole Miss rip up FSU. Drmies (talk) 01:22, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
