NN?

[edit]

I've put this page up for deletion because there doesn't seem to be anything particularly significant to say about the subject. The entry and the external link both indicate that he's just some random schzophrenic loon who went nuts and stabbed a few people. Unfortunately, that's not all that unusual. Is there anything else to say about this guy? Bryan 23:25, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • One of the types of people who merit notability on Wikipedia is: Persons achieving renown or notoriety for their involvement in newsworthy events. Alexander Koptsev certainly fits into that. The incident described in this article is newsworthy since the BBC, as well as other new outlets, reported it. In fact, the BBC ran a story on it on Jan 11, Jan 13, Feb 28, and March 27. So not only did the BBC think this was newsworthy, it ran four stories on it at four different times. Also, the chief rabbi of Russia has commented on the case. Finally, this is not just some random loon who stabbed people. It was a hate crime. He was clearly trying to murder Jews, not just anybody. And in an atmosphere of rising anti-Semitism in Russia (see this and this), this is certainly newsworhty. I do think that more details can be included in the article, and I will try to work on that tomorrow. But certainly the article should not be deleted. Davidm82 04:14, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Working these details and additional context into the article should make it clearer to future editors that it's worth keeping. Bryan 04:29, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This part of the article is false

"He told investigators he was jealous of Jews and their better living standards, and was inspired to act by books and Internet websites. He added that the main factor was his "desire to die," and that he felt sorry for those he had injured."

Why would he say that and plead not guilty after? This sounds like an attempt by kike editors to make a hero look bad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.57.204.16 (talk) 23:54, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
