Alina Zagitovaəs nationality and ethnicity is manipulated by well connected Russian editors of Wikipedia. Alina is not a Russian. Her father is Tatar, and Tatar isn't Russian. She is Tatar

[edit]

Russian trolls and KGB are changing this article and confusing readers by indicating Alina as a Russian. But Alina isn't Russian. Russian is a term that refers to ethnicity. But Alina's father is Tatar. She has a Tatar surname. Therefore, she is of Tatar descent and of Tatar ethnicity. Russian trolls and KGB guys are changing her ethnicity to Russian, and by doing this harming the accuracy of the article and ethnicity of Alina. By doing these, these Russian editors are also insulting Tatars, they are changing Tatars to Russian. Tatar and Russian are different ethnic groups, even tough both are citizens of the Russian Federation. But Tatars are not Russians. They are of Turkic ethnic group, so is Alina. Dear Wikipedia editors, pls don't allows Russian trolls and Russian origin Wikipedia editors and administrators to manipulate this page and provide inaccurate information on Alina. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.19.215.154 (talk) 12:44, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

French is also a term that refers to ethnicity, yet, nobody is writing that Kylian Mbappé is a French football player of Cameroon descent. He is commonly referred to as a French football player, clearly indicating the country of his origin. Similar information should be provided about Zagitova's country of origin. 178.46.215.6 (talk) 23:44, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Alina Zagitova is not a Russian. Her father is Tatar, and Tatar isn't Russian

[edit]

Russian trolls are changing this article and adding incorrect reference that Alina Zagitova is a Russian. But Alina isn't Russian. Her father is of Tatar ethnicity. This makes her Tatar, not Russian. Russian is a term that refers to Russian ethnic group, and doesn't include other ethnic groups living in Russia. So I call upon editors to halt the Russian trolls and manipulation here, and to refer to Alina with her correct nationality and ethnicity. Her ethnicity / nationality is Tatar not Russian. Everyone pls hear. I am going to change this and change her nationality to Tatar. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.19.215.154 (talk) 14:14, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Alina Zagitova

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Alina Zagitova's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

  • From Evgenia Medvedeva: "ISU World Standings for Single & Pair Skating and Ice Dance: Ladies". International Skating Union. 8 June 2017.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 22:44, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Country represented in infobox

Consensus is that the 'country' field in the infobox should indicate Russia and not OAR. --RL0919 (talk) 22:08, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Due to some editin conflict I have started a WP:rfc, rfc category may not be the best selection feel free to change it. I feel that both the Russian flag and the  Olympic Athletes from Russia should be listed in the articles infobox since her birthplace is already listed as Russia and since the IOC ruled that Russia wouldn’t be officially represented in the 2018 Winter Games.[1] Sincerely TucsonDavidU.S.A. 09:06, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Because it linked to russian WP, which didn't help me at all. I don't actually know if there's any WP policy or guideline on linking to other language WP:s in the article text, but it's very rarely done and I don't see why it's helpful here, russian speakers would find it via ru-WP, but to the general english-WP reader it's just annoying. I have no objection to a redlink, of course. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 22:23, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Redrose64. Per H:ILL#Inline links I changed it to the third option. I think it's better to have "warning", at least in this case. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:09, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

update needed

[edit]

This article includes the following text:

"On 14 May 2021 the Russian press reported the announcement that Zagitova would not be representing Russia on the national team during the 2021-2022 season stating: "Olympic champion Alina Zagitova and two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedeva have not been included in the Russian Figure Skating Federation's (RFSF) national team for the 2021-2022, putting their hopes of competing at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games at risk."[48]'

This is ludicrous. In the current Russian women's figure skating team, the 10th ranked skater is 15th worldwide. They're an incredibly strong team https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2021/12/24/kamila-valieva-russia-figure-skating-nationals-results/ Moreover, Kamila Valiyeva has broken 2 records and become the highest scoring female figure skater in history -- by a long shot. Zagitova can't touch her at this point. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skysong263 (talkcontribs) 07:33, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
