Requesting review

Hey @AJona1992:! I was wondering if you could leave comments for this article on the talk page before I nominate for FA next. Thanks! Erick (talk) 02:18, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Review
  • "it is a pop album which contains" - could change the wording to "it is a pop album containing influences of R&B, pop ballads, and jazz music."
  • "such as" - you mean "including"
  • You want to emphasize that Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias were his contemporaries in the realm of Latin music to further distinguish Luis Miguel's decision to write and release a Spanish-language album despite the commercial success of Latin crossover acts.
  • I am not a big fan of parentheses, especially when there are ways to go around them. You should add after "Sol, Arena, y Mar" that the single "O Tú o Ninguna" was his number-one single from the album -> "Four singles were released to promote the album: "Sol, Arena y Mar", the number-one US Billboard Hot Latin Songs single "O Tú o Ninguna", "Dormir Contigo", and the title track."
  • The section about the tour in the lead could be merged and compress -> "Miguel embarked on the Amarte Es Un Placer Tour, performing in Spain, South America, Mexico, and the United States, which lasted from 1999 into 2000; it became the highest-grossing tour by a Spanish-speaking recording artist at the time."
  • I thought after first use the United States is the US?
  • "He said the" - could be changed to "He expressed that"
  • The period before Miguel's speech should be changed to a colon.
  • Since there is no article pointing to Danny Saber, you should add the fact that he is an American deejay or what his connection is with Miguel.
  • Remove "over" in "grossed over" (NYC/Radio City Music Hall)
  • I am not the biggest fan of parentheses so try this -> "Following his concerts at Radio City Music, Miguel performed 21 consecutive shows at the National Auditorium in Mexico City beginning on 24 February; beating the previous record of 20 set by Mexican group Timbiriche, and set the record for most attendees with an overall count of 255,000 patrons."
  • The next section about the US is missing a word.
  • Any reason why the LA and Houston newspapers aren't wikilink but others are? Also, once you've done that, the ones that are linked in the critical reception should be delinked to avoid overlinking.
  • You've already mentioned who Mariah Carey is in earlier subsections so writing Carey should suffice in the critical reception; not her full name.
  • Any reason why Miguel declined the invitation to perform or even show up?
Per your request, here is my review as I was reading the article. Hope for the best jona 01:32, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@AJona1992: Thanks for your feedback Jona! I believe I have addressed most of the issues brought up. I decided to just remove the mention about O Tu o Ninguna being #1 on the lead to make the flow easier to read. For LA and Houston newpapers, they are already linked in the sections before the critical reception unless I missed a few. No idea why Miguel refused the invitation. I'll go ahead and nominate this now. Feel free to make any changes you deem necessary. Thanks again! Erick (talk) 15:00, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Music samples file

[edit]

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: Before I re-nominate for FAC, I made some changes to the music samples. If it still doesn't meet the criteria for non-free usage, I'll remove them before re-nominating. Thanks. Erick (talk) 15:11, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think that unless a particular song is frequently discussed as being representative of an album, no samples of it should be on the album page. There is just no way to meet the WP:NFCC#8 prong there. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 15:22, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I've removed them. Erick (talk) 16:52, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
