The March 2014 Article Revision
[edit]From March 27th to 31st 2014 3 users set into completing a large scale revision for this page. The aim was to make a page that facilitates easier additions and changes in the future. Hopefully, with the work that has been done the content that needs to be added to this page can be handled with greater ease.
However, there is still quite a bit of content that needs to be added, and you may consider these suggestions:
- The article doesn't have much on 1950's and McCarthyism. If information concerning
that time period could be placed in the "Historical Milestones" section it would be helpful.
Under "3 Librarianship and human rights in praxis"
There should be a separate section for "Poverty" and "International Concerns".
Poverty would deal with issues such as homelessness and the Digital Divide.
International Concerns would be about U.S. librarianship helping those abroad
or concerned with issues that include but extend beyond the U.S. such as the
"Librarians for Peace" protesting the Vietnam War in the late 1960's.
Under "3.1 Freedom of Information"
- Censorship
- Open Access
- Privacy
- Net Neutrality
- Freedom to Read
3.3 Under "Progressive librarianship and special populations"
There should be information on more information on minority populations such as-
immigrants, Latino Americans, the disabled, LGBT, Native American, East Asian American, etc.
Whatever populations that libraries have done some work for and with in the past through
advocacy. As a part of the Libraries Bill of Rights you will find detailed information as to how the
library work to advocate for special populations.
