Delete Image?

The image of white killing blue comes from the trailer/app store thumbnail of the app and may need to be deleted. Gargantuan Brain (talk) 02:23, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Is there gonna be a new section for the Airship update?

Will it be updated when it comes out? Or is it that nobody wants to do it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by RusherLeBFDIFan (talkcontribs) 19:45, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

It's already discussed in the Updates section. No need for a separate section. --Masem (t) 19:47, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

I don’t actually see an updates section. RusherLeBFDIFan (talk) 17:18, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Its the section " Canceled sequel and ongoing updates" (it was named " Canceled sequel and planned updates" but as these are now happening updates, the name is better). --Masem (t) 18:16, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Some new development details for this game

There's a video essay on Youtube detailing the development and growth of Among Us. The video has been cited properly, and a news article has summarized the contents of the video.

Video: ThatGuyGlen - "How Among Us Was Made and Why The Developers Almost Quit"

SummaryNews Article: Game World Observer - "Brief history of InnerSloth: Three attempts to abandon Among Us"

Here's a quick rundown of key points from the video

  • Deitied was one of InnerSloth's earlier projects and influenced the development of Among Us through its failure.
    • A top-down shooter local multiplayer mobile game where players battle and are blessed or cursed by gods. After negative reception via Steam Greenlight they learned to create more complete products.
      • (If an article on the Henry Stickmin series should be made, Marcus also decided to create The Henry Stickmin Collection during Deitied's failure)
    • They tried to rebuild the game (And Amy joined them) but felt it was uninteresting. The lessons learnt influenced their plan for Among Us, which unlike Deitied felt right to them from the start.
    • Part of this plan was for Marcus to move to a house closer to Forest, and for Forest to leave his job at Microsoft.
  • To create the game's maps, Marcus and Amy would simply google words like "Reactor Room" to get an idea of what details the map should have
    • MIRA HQ is partly inspired by Cloud City from Star Wars.
  • Forest described playtesting the game as painful and frustrating.
    • They would schedule playtests weeks in advance to get enough of their friends together to test it, but the earlier versions of the game would often break when their friends attempted to join, forcing him to send them newer builds via Google Play.
    • They only tested the game with 7 to 8 players and never tested with 9 or 10
  • Marcus created the menu theme when he was depressed and struggling to create music.
  • The open beta for the game's online multiplayer was released in August 2018 on itch.io. At this point the team added sound in order to make the game more engaging when played online.
    • Marcus and Forest never did sound design before and mixed noises from multiple sound packs they owned to create the SFX.
  • During the steam release the game used a free Amazon server to cut costs. (They eventually switched but none of these sources indicate when or how. Presumably during the games surge in September while Forest crunched to fix the servers.)
    • Whenever the game had a surge in popularity (Like its initial launch on Steam) the servers would end up burning down and Forest would have to build them up again.
      • The team felt pressured to do it since they didn't want to kill the game's momentum whenever it gained any.
  • Quote: "Godenot, who found our game on Google Play earlier in 2019 (probably recommended by players? Possibly via Itch.io, even… I know he steamed from mobile before switching to PC.) We had considered wrapping up Among Us back then, because profitability was not in sight. But the Brazilian audience drove us to create more content, and that was wise."
  • They decided to stop adding to the game in early 2020, but of course it got its biggest surge during late July-Sepetember 2020 and they decided to continue.

Sorry, none of those sources you listed (maybe except PCGamer) are reliable. Unreliable sources include social media, YouTube videos, forums and generally any user-generated content published without credible editorial oversight. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 01:52, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
@Nkon21:Not sure since I've seen other pages use Reddit and Twitter as citations, as well as the news article I've linked to on top. I think I just put too many sources for you to actually read though. So I'll pinpoint some info with their sources.
Earlier on the talk page This Newgrounds podcast from the devs themselves was deemed reliable and is already used in the article. We can include the Google image, SFX, and Playtesting information with this source since thats where the Youtube video got it from. We can also include an image of concept art for Crewmates since it's been reported on by Polygon and revealed Marcus himself on Twitter.
Are you sure we can't include information on Deitied with any of these sources, even the steam page for the game? Or Forest talking about it on Reddit? That influenced the development of Among Us signifigantly and I feel like that info would serve in the long term. 2603:7000:1F00:6B91:B979:6C70:A0EA:5A7F (talk) 04:46, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

There is an instance of "a report form" instead of "a report from" in the section talking about the hack. It is a simple typo. 2603:6010:8F41:AB00:9DF8:9F8F:EA2E:D4B5 (talk) 05:35, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate.  Darth Flappy «Talk» 19:59, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
