[edit]

Pseudananas sagenarius and Ananas macrodontes refer to the same species. There is a Wikipeida entry for each name; these should be de-duplicated.

Deciding which of the two pages to remove is a difficult task; there is no consensus in the scientific community on which name should be used. Major botanical gardens disagree as well. (e.g. Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden accpets P. sagenarius while Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew accpets A. macrodontes)

A search in a database of scientific literature returns slightly more results for "Ananas macrodontes" than for "Pseudananas sagenarius" (49 to 40). Similarly, a Google search returns slightly more results for "Ananas macrodontes" than for "Pseudananas sagenarius" (4,690 to 3,300). The Wikipeida pageview statistics suggest that A. macrodontes receives consistently more views (~10 per day vs ~2.5 per day). With these numbers in mind, I suggest that "Pseudananas sagenarius" be redirected to the Ananas macrodontes article.
