Roundtable

[edit]

Being hired to be on "The Roundtable"]http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/shows/the-roundtable.html] is a signficant claim of notability. It makes her a national TV personality. As someone wishes to delete this and may bring this to AFD, it's important to keep all claims of notability. --Rob (talk) 15:32, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The WIkipedia WP:N notability guideline requires multiple, non-trivial, independent sources on a topic for it to be considered notable. There are not multiple, independent sources asserting the notability of this person (existence is not notability). TV presenters, as a rule, are not notable. This person is far too early in her TV career to be considered notable. Not everyone on a cable TV talk show is notable just because they appear on a talk show. Promoting the TV show on WIkipedia is spam. The only Google Books hit on this person's name is a directory of TV people, not an indication of notability by itself. Most things that Google finds are advertising copy for the TV show. --Wtshymanski (talk) 15:41, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The statement above, "TV presenters, as a rule, are not notable" is not based upon Wikipedia policy or guidelines whatsoever. Northamerica1000(talk) 21:10, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's because TV presenters, as a rule, don't have multiple independent non-trivial reliable sources about them, which *is* a Wikipedia policy. That's the great thing about a "general" notability guideline, you don't have to make up rules for every individual case. --Wtshymanski (talk) 05:58, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Failed AfD

[edit]

Remember, you can get your advertising into the Wikipedia if you just get your press releases printed in enough newspapers. --Wtshymanski (talk) 16:01, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Many of the sources in the article are not press releases in a public relations/marketing format whatsoever. Rather, many of them are from news agencies, which are appropriate as news sources. The Associated Press is an example of a news agency that releases information for mass media. News agency press is valid as reliable sources. QMI

[edit]

I thought sources were supposed to be independent? QMI is a part of Quebecor which owns Sun Media. Of course QMI thinks the talk show host is notable. --Wtshymanski (talk) 16:03, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Passed AfD, which closed as Keep

[edit]

There are enough sources available and in the article from independent, reliable, third-party sources that qualified this topic's inclusion in Wikipedia. Northamerica1000(talk) 21:04, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
