Stop cluttering the article

[edit]

Adding information about the band she was in prior is only relevant if the information occurred during her tenure there. Also stop adding in the history of the rumors surrounding the new singer... they are as irrelevant now as they were then... tabloid speculation would not be included in an encyclopedia. Anette's Child

[edit]

Could we mention she does have a child, it is relevant when discussing the difficulties she has on tour. Lelek 19:56, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Finnish press keeps talking about her having a son, not a daughter. I think her family could be mentioned in the article if a good reference is found.--VpvFin 22:17, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. We can't just throw "if" and "when". Unless we find a reliable source talking about her difficulties for tours, it would only be speculation. -- ReyBrujo 03:54, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My bad, Eva got me in the daughter mood. Anette spoke that the band wasn't going to pick her because of her child. I shall try to find the reference. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lelek (talkcontribs).

OK according to the link provided by SoothingR this it reads.

Then in March, they put out the ad that they wanted demos, etc. and I felt that I needed to check with Tuomas if I should send in something more, so I mailed him and got a devastating mail back where he said that I was one of the best candidates, but that he could already then say that I wouldn't get the job!!! I was in shock, I didn't understand anything and he didn't say why... so I assumed it was because of my age or that I have a child...

She is relating her feelings at the time and not quoting the band members. I'm unsure to include it now. Anette's feeling as why she was not chosen is more hearsay. Though her not being accepted by the band at first may be worth mentioning and thus, her state of mind during the time. Lelek 19:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the interview I linked in the "lyric soprano" section Anette also mentions being turned down because of her child, and that time she words it as describing what actually happened, not as feelings. Also she adds that the band apologized to her for that later on. 77.190.76.254 (talk) 15:02, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anette's last name

[edit]

"married name Anette Blyckert" (the first line) or "Birth name Anette Blyckert" (in Infobox). Which is the correct? --AI 10:06, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Based on what's been in the Finnish press, married name is Blyckert and birth name is Olzon. I'll fix the article but I can't provide any sources, though. --VpvFin 17:04, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. It's better to find the source. --AI 00:30, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Again referring to the interview linked under "lyric soprano", her artist name is Olzon, taken from her birth name Olsson. 77.190.76.254 (talk) 15:05, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. Her legal name is Olsson. See ref from the Swedish tax registry here. Nymf hideliho! 19:14, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Swedish Christians"

[edit]

It is interesting to note that Anette comes under the "Swedish Christians" category. She does wear crucifixes but where do we know she is an actual Christian? Is she a strong one ("Jesus saved me!") or a "de facto" one ("I go church every sunday")? Seriphyn 22:31, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no source saying she's Christian. Until one is added, I remove the category. - Aki (talk) 14:45, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed Anette from 'Swedish Christians'. She was probably included because all Swedish people were (I don't think this is still the case) automatically members of the Church of Sweden. I removed her because as far as I'm aware all the members of Nightwish are either agnostic or pantheists. If anyone can find a source saying she identifies as a Christian, I'm removing her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The flying pasty (talkcontribs) 20:04, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, almost all Swedes are born into membership of the Church of Sweden, still. I don't know anything about her personal faith, though. If no source is to be found, there's no point in having her there. - Aki (talk) 12:27, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tuomas Holopainen self-identified as a Christian in an interview, which is linked on his discussion page. Marco Hietala supposedly does, and Anette does wear crosses all the time, but there's no credible source that confirms their personal faith. Unless there is, Wikipedia doesn't classify people by religion. Jsc1973 (talk) 06:32, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Voice range

[edit]

Anette isn´t a "light lyric" soprano. This is a categorie of classical skilled singers (Lyric soprano). Anette may be a non classical soprano but to me she sounds more of a mezzo-soprano. But you could add something about her marvelous belting technique. --84.169.210.240 (talk) 21:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-Hi!, well yesterday I saw this page and I could see all the trouble with the voice range of anette, and I myself dont know how to categorize that, so I erased the topic so this would end, hope you understand, its better not to start disscusions about this if we are not going to get somewhere with it, and when you have a very trustfull source of her voice range (and very trustful please, like her own opinion or something like that) put again the topic and we could end with the problems, thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.208.60.26 (talk) 23:28, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lyric soprano

[edit]

Well somebody put she was a lyric soprano and put as reference her official blog, and ok but there doesnt say anything about that so im going to delete that...please put trustful and explicit references, specially for things with so much controversy like this one.

And also i want to say that as far as i know the lyric soprano is a type of operatic soprano (like tarja, for saying someone we might all know here) and anette is a good singer and all but I think we all can say that her voice type is not like tarja's (im not discusing who is better, im just saying they are different) even if Anette is a soprano or not, but well that is just my opinion, if you want you can pay no attention on this last comment--201.208.60.26 (talk) 23:05, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She says she IS a lyric soprano. just look at the old posts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.248.154.76 (talk) 09:23, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough I guess, but there it says that she thinks she could be lyrical, and as far as i get there she is saying "I know im a soprano, i think im lyrical, but is up to check it with a professional", well that's my point of view, so im going to put just soprano if its ok to you and everybody :)--201.208.60.26 (talk) 23:21, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This user, 24.139.124.114 keeps reverting her vocal range from soprano to contralto after telling the user numerous times to not revert. To me, that is vandalism, is it not? Tribal44 (talk) 23:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Tribal44[reply]

(SkyBlueBumper (talk) 21:28, 3 July 2009 (UTC))A soprano is a soprano no matter what kind of music she is performing using her voice (opera or not). I am for "lyric soprano".[reply]

Anette said she WOULD be a light lyrical soprano IF she were a classical singer, which she tried when she was younger, but quit in favour of modern singing. In this interview: http://forum.nightwish-world.com/index.php/topic/1593-interview-with-anette-2011/page__p__158059__fromsearch__1#entry158059 she says that she WAS a modern soprano until her first son, the pregnancy lowered her voice. According to the much older blog entry of hers in which she also wrote the abovementioned about the lirico leggiero, her vocal range has not been tested since. In my personal opinion, mezzo-soprano is the most likely conclusion though. 77.190.76.254 (talk) 14:56, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What the...?

[edit]

"Anette lives with her son born July 2001, husband and cats, Gremlins and Stjärna. The tattoo around her left arm says "leave me alone", and she said if her and the other nightwish members spend a summer in Thailand, she will get more tattoos. She has also admitted to sleeping with a teddy bear"

This smells an awful lot like trolling. No references either, but I can't be sure it's not true. Either way, I wonder how relevant it is.... --Dark Apostrophe (talk) 01:47, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

she has frequent panic attacks. ae, that should be sourced 121.72.236.247 (talk)

Removed section...

[edit]

Removed the 'reception' section. It was full of unsourced puffery, or very badly sourced irrelevant info. (Vocal range is only of relevance to classical/opera singers, see relevant projects) Some of it could be worked back in with suitable sourcing and a re-write to a bit less of what reads like fan-worship. Only in death does duty end (talk) 10:36, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed the 'Future Solo Album' section. It was poorly written and rendered irrelevant by Anette's own admission in 2010 on her blog. It might become relevant again in the future, but should include then-pertinent information since this project never saw the light of day. Crimson667 (talk) 17:30, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
