Some unclarity in his career

[edit]

From the part that's been translated from the Dutch we can't tell whether he was fighting on the French or the British side at the Battle of Waterloo. The lack of military honors at his funeral might indicate something. ("Hij overleed op 8 juli 1863 en werd zonder militaire eerbewijzen begraven op Eik en Duinen"). There's also a special note that the Treasury did not object to issuing him his pension ("zonder bezwaar van de schatkist"). Since he was aide-de-camp to three Dutch kings the Dutch must have thought well of him later in life. If anybody has the sources we might know more. Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Herman Antonie de Bloeme - Baron van Omphal.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on May 1, 2018. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2018-05-02. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 02:31, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
