I'm glad to see my style of having a link to the country page for the Games of the winner in parentheses instead of just the 3-letter initials has spread from the 2006 Winter Olympic Games pages. Yay. Jfingers88 06:06, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The 2006 Winter Olympic Games pages are exactly where I stole the idea from. 203.22.132.16 11:25, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fix clutter/more detail

[edit]

The aquatics article is getting pretty cluttered by the mass of different events, I think it would be appropriate to break it down into sub articles to be easier to navigate. If the swimming section could be given different articles for gender or each stroke, or any number of options, then it might also be nice to get all finalists names mentioned as in my following example of the women's 100m butterfly final. Opinions and suggestions please, otherwise the article will remain a clutter.

Pos. Athlete Time
Jessicah Schipper (AUS) 57.48
Libby Lenton (AUS) 57.80
Audrey Lacroix (CAN) 58.89
4 Alice Mills (AUS) 59.21
5 Terri Dunning (ENG) 59.34
6 Amanda Loots (RSA) 59.93
7 Jemma Lowe (WAL) 1:00.52
8 Li Tao (SIN) 1:00.63

I think a table like on the Athens results page is neat, simple, and prevents the clutter problem.
I think that's a very good idea. Any objections to implementing a style similar to the Athens results page? --203.22.132.16 00:40, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Athens page has links to separate articles on every single event. Unless someone wants to go to the trouble to do that, I'd say keep the existing format, since it includes finishing times, which are important. -dmmaus 22:11, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How about something like this, which includes the finishing times. Either with or without links to each individual event?

That looks great. Probably leave the individual events unlinked, unless there is enough for an article on some of them, then just link to those. A mass of redlinks is always ugly. -dmmaus 23:09, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If no one objects to this system, then sometime in the next 12 hours I'll make the new table complete with all swimming results. Any events that have a write up will be given their own article. 203.22.132.16 00:39, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I do have a slight objection. Could you change the style of the table to be a bit more organized, as I just did with Athletics at the 1996 Summer Olympics? It would make it a lot neater and understandable. It might take a while, though. Jfingers88 03:47, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How about like this? It would take up a little more space, but is easier to read.
