Correcting grammar

[edit]

I will endeavor to render the grammar into something more legible, plz make sure I haven't altered any of the facts. The Jackal God 02:13, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article was clearly not written by a native speaker of English. The phraseology and sometimes even the syntax needs correcting.

Removal of aratustimeline.jpg

[edit]

I have recently removed the above-named image. Here are my reasons.

  1. It does not seem to fit. Although I am not intimately familiar with that section of the Wikipedia MOS, yet I know I've never seen anything quite like that image anywhere else on Wikipedia
  2. It is practically illegible and certainly does not do a terrific job of getting the facts across.
  3. This article may not need a timeline at all; at least it seems that most biographical articles do not contain one.

Needed: a more criticial approach!

[edit]

The article, as it stands, is a strenuous retelling of Plutarch and Polybius. Respected and revered as they are, they had their biases and to simply retell their versions of Aratus in an encyclopedia is to somewhat short-change the reader, I think. So, I propose that the article be re-written with a more critical eye, with less hagiography and more analysis.

One example of a lacking feature - his son, who was strategus as well for one year (219), is not mentioned at all!
