Merger proposal
[edit]Not a huge deal to me, but this article could be confusing to nonexperts. See Category:Anilines. We have a lot of articles on anilines, much less aromatic amines (not sure what that term even means). One possibility would be to redirect to Aniline#Related aniline derivatives. Ideas welcome. --Smokefoot (talk) 23:02, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- The current content definitely overlaps with the content at aniline. But rather than merging, I think it would make more sense to broaden the scope of this article to cover other types of aromatic amines rather than just anilines. Aminopyridines, aminopyrimidines, and other amino heterocycles play important roles in pharamcology, biology, agricultural chemicals, etc. The definition given, based on an amino group attached to an aromatic *hydrocarbon*, seems unnecessarily restrictive. -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:16, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me, although I am unsure how many articles we have on them. One thing is that in addition to the proposal, I should just make sure that the aniline article mentions a range of derivatives. --Smokefoot (talk) 17:57, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
