This may have been what the citation said, but I question the statement he was in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and think it deserves to be checked. The CWGC indicates at time of death he was in the Royal Fusiliers (aka City of London Regiment), which is already shown in the infobox. I have rewritten the account of his World War I service to indicate he was in the latter regiment at his death, in case it transpires he joined the RWF (less likely for a man from the north of England) then transferred to the Royals, a similar type of infantry regiment. The CWGC citation, while not mentioning his rugby distinctions, corresponds in personal details except the reported age at death (a year younger than supported by his life dates).Cloptonson (talk) 06:34, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
