Needs material from other cultures

[edit]

The header says it all; this new page needs comparative materials from other cultures where astronomical dating has been used: Ancient China, Classical western antiquity, and Mesoamerica spring to mind. --SteveMcCluskey (talk) 21:59, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Needs astronomical chronology

[edit]

Needs refs to and some superficial description of Julian date, Julian year (astronomy), Besselian year, Epoch (astronomy), Ephemeris time and such. Astronomical chronology is a lesser nightmare, although well defined. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 15:14, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And Dynamic time, Barycentric Dynamical Time, Terrestrial Time/Terrestrial Dynamical Time, International Atomic Time, Geocentric Coordinate Time, Barycentric Coordinate Time, and maybe it is a greater nightmare. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 15:20, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As currently written, this article concerns archeaology, and almost none of the articles you mention have anything to do with dating artifacts. A possible exception would be Julian day. — Joe Kress (talk) 20:20, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
