GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria
Here's the deal.
The article looks good, it really does. However, there are several problems.
- Paragraphs should have AT MINIMUM one inline citation
- The first image used says that you took the picture in 2013, both of which are nearly impossible
- The Early Life section seems absurdly short, but if that is all the available information, so be it.
- Where did all of his money come from?
- all of the citation needed tags I have inserted need to be resolved.
I have made an effort to fix the issues
[edit]Thank you for letting me know the status.
- I have gone through and added additional citations in each of the locations you indicated. I included about 10 new sources and reused a few others that were relevant to the fact given and used elsewhere. Where possible I have provided two or three citations to support a single point.
- Regarding the photo dates, when I first uploaded the portrait and signature of Post I was brand new to Wikipedia and Wikimedia and didn't remember to fix the date to reflect when the picture was originally taken and the default was the date of submission. That was my error and I am working to rectify it following the correct procedures. However, I did fix the problem by adding two different photos with the correct dates and citations included.
- The early life section is short, but it is all the information available. There is no biography of Post's life; all that available are news clippings, yearbooks, and collections of papers online and in libraries, none of which contain much, if any, information about his childhood. I did, however, add a photo of Post from when he was 6.
- Regarding the family fortune, in the version you read, I indicated that as a teen Post inherited his money from his father, a prominent New York banker off the Robber Baron era (I noted he was president of the Produce Bank). I have now added that his father was associated with a case involving what would now be as much as $10,000,000 dollars in bank forgeries. A man named Albert H. Smith was convicted in that case, but it seems he ripped off Produce Bank, and there was never a connection made between the crimes and Post Sr.'s wealth. I didn't include this in the original, as I felt it was a digression, since it's not about Post's early life directly. Moreover, no one accused his father of stealing the money. I have read things that made various insinuations about it, but without any real evidence it seemed like an irrelevant point. However, since you felt there needed to be more information about the family finances, I have included it, with citations. It can obviously be stripped out again if needed.
Please let me know if these changes are sufficient.
- @Hollykatharine: You Still need citations at the end of every paragraph, not just the ones I pointed out. Eddie891 Talk Work 19:13, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Hollykatharine sorry about the delay. I'm looking to approve in the next couple days. The only remaining problems are they the lists of society memberships and people he was associated with need sources. Then it looks good.
Finishing Up
[edit]I have added additional citation for the society memberships and notable associates. Please let me know if this is adequate. Hollykatharine (talk) 23:35, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
