Notability

[edit]

I have removed the question of notability. This article is based on the entry from Easton's Bible Dictionary which is part of a Wikipedia project to make sure we have articles included in other encyclopedias. Yes, this article is a stub, but I think the fact that it cames from Easton's makes it inherently notable. gren グレン 06:44, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The idea that the title "Baali" exists at all is based on a single verse. That verse is not a strong proof, to say the least. It seems to be merely speaking metaphorically, and is stating that Israel will have a closer relationship with God. The actual use of the name "Baali" (or "Ishi") in reference to God would need additional proof. If there is none, this content might belong as a note in Names of God in Judaism. --Eliyak T·C 01:12, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baali should be merged with the general article concerning the title Baal

[edit]

As this article even states it's just a form of the title Ba'al meaning lord used throughout the Semitic world. Considering the origins of Judaism within Ugarit and Ba'el (Haddad) a primary god of that pantheon, there is no doubt that Ba'al was also used in reference to YHWH at some point in Jewish history.

In fact Baal already has a section devoted to the usage of Ba'al refereing to YHWH in Israelite history. There is no point for this article on it's own, but rather any pertinent information should be merged into that section.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.190.34.219 (talk) 04:10, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
