Postgraduate or graduate entry
[edit]According to the St Andrews prospectus (warning - PDF) it appears that their BD is not a postgraduate degree but a fast-track undergraduate level degree taken by students who already hold another degree (a "Graduate Entry Route" programme is the term in some other universities) and is the equivalent of the undergraduate Master of Theology.
Are there any universities where the BD is a higher level degree, taught & examined at postgraduate level? Timrollpickering (talk) 23:39, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand used to offer a BD to students who already had degrees, alongside a Bachelor of Theology (BTh) for those who hadn't. Papers offered for the BTh were also part of the BD, but there were extra ones as well. In terms of actual content, the BD was like a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Theology. BD students were also required to do at least a year each of Hebrew and Greek. I started my BD in the last year it was possible to do so before the degree was phased out – 1994, I think, graduating in 1996. Koro Neil (talk) 14:25, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
