Veterinary Anesthesia?
[edit]I thought the article was going to be about balanced anesthesia in humans. Was kinda surprised when it talked about xylazine since it's only for veterinary use (plus ketamine being a preferred agent). Guess whoever wrote it had vet anesthesia in mind instead. 110.136.106.39 (talk) 11:37, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- @110.136.106.39 I had exactly the same concern (that I picked up for the same reason as you i.e. that xylazine isn't used in humans). The article jumps between human and veterinary anaesthesia, referencing a mixed bag of sources. 219.90.175.201 (talk) 14:03, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

- Plan to Edit!
I am a college student editing this article for class.
- Timeline: through September to early October
- I plan on rewriting the content from a non-encyclopedic tone to an encyclopedic one, as well as removing material that is not related to the topic. I did notice a violation of WP:NOT because the article does state Wikipedia editor's personal feelings or presents an original argument about a topic, when Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought. I am planning on fixing this by taking out any personally identifying words and subjective information to keep the page unbiased.
- I agree with @219.90.175.201 that the article jumps between human and veterinary anesthesia, so there will need to be some reorganization and possibly the addition of a paragraph about balanced anesthesia used for humans. Jeniferbarnes (talk) 14:06, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Evaluation:
- Not everything is relevant, such as the section on Pharmacokinetic factors. Bouncing between veterinary use and human use of anesthesia was distracting.
- For the most part, there is NPOV since this is an article about a medical topic, but this sentence could be revised: "It is relatively simple to make the infusion rate stay stable and supposed that the stable-state concentration is gained on the basis of proper distribution."
- All links work, but some could be updated as they are as old as 2001. Some repeat sources but also seem to be credible from academic journals. ~~~~jeniferbarnes

Deleting the Pharmacokinetic factors section
[edit]This section was flagged as containing material not related to the topic of the article and upon reading it, it provides more confusion than clarity for the average reader. It mentions injectable anesthetic agents but the rest of it does not really pertain to balanced anesthesia and I feel the article could still be strongly supported without it. I propose deleting this section and instead possibly adding a section elaborating on the use of balanced anesthesia in humans, since it goes into details about veterinary use and jumps between human and veterinary anesthesia.
