[edit]I agree that this article is not a good candidate for PROD. It asserts good reason for notability, but if necessary it can be taken to AfD to achieve consensus. I personally would be in favour of keeping this, although not strongly in favour, only a weak keep.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 03:42, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think that this article should go the same way as Carmelo Bertolami for the same reasons that Bertolami went that way. The entire article is referenced by one local obituary, which doesn't even mention his date of death, making it a pretty poor excuse for an obituary. I've searched and there just aren't too many sources out there for Serioli. On an interesting side note, there's a deletion discussion for Erich Kästner on the German Wikipedia on the claims that he's not notable enough for inclusion. And he's the last veteran from that country! Cheers, CP 07:43, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- How ironic, Paul. Extremely sexy (talk) 18:09, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- What's ironic? Cheers, CP 18:53, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hello: that even Germany doesn't want to know about him at all, of course. Extremely sexy (talk) 12:31, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- Explain how that's irony. Maybe it is if we kept his article on the English wikipedia and it was deleted on the German one, but even then, I think that's more incongruity than irony. It would be irony maybe if Kastner had gone around the German wikipedia, saving articles from being deleted, then got his own deleted. Actually, that would be pretty funny. Cheers, CP 19:38, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- No: I just meant to say that it would be extremely ironic if the last (known) WWI veteran who fought for Germany would lose his own article at the German wikipedia, hence. Extremely sexy (talk) 00:12, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Well he did, the article was deleted. Cheers, CP 18:00, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- To be totally honest about the original PROD of this article, I'd say that it shows that User:BrownHairedGirl had not adhered to the WP:PROD process in this one case, as it only refers to uncontroversial deletions that don't quite meet the speedy deletion criteria. To quote from the article - Battista Serioli was one of the last four Italian veterans of the First World War. From that stated fact, it's nowhere near an uncontroversial deletion. Much more appropriate for AfD.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 01:19, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
