Bay of Islands Scenic Railway

[edit]

I've been doing a bit of digging on the history of BOIVR...

This picture on BoIVR's website shows that Bay of Islands Scenic Railway was in operation in the 1970s (see the name on the carriage in the pic).

According to the Companies Office Bay of Islands Scenic Railway was incorporated on 4 December 1985, then in liquidation from 4 December 1985 - 28 November 1996. Another company, Bay Rail Limited, was incorporated in 1999 but struck off in 2006. It renamed itself from Bay of Islands Vintage Railway Limited. It's Shareholding was a three-part split between The Opua and Kawakawa Railway Preservation Society Incorporated and two other allocations.

The Opua and Kawakawa Railway Preservation Society Incorporated was incorporated in 1988 but struck off by the registrar of incorporated societies on 17 June 2004.

Then there's the Bay of Islands Vintage Railway Trust, incorporated in 1990 but apparently not operational until 2003. It appears this is the body currently running things. --LJ Holden 05:06, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
