Thomas Moore's text is in the public domain.—The Realms of Gold (talk) 08:32, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the more usual lyric is 'Like fairy-gifts fading away' not 'wings' Flagators (talk) 17:42, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the previous commenter that it's "gifts" -- that's how I learned it as a child. On Youtube, see renditions by Allan Bruce, John McCormack, and John McDermott. And finally, "fairy gifts fading away" obviously makes more sense than "fairy wings fading away." Why would wings fade away? So I'm going ahead and changing that word. The Name of the Tune

[edit]

"The tune to which Moore set his words is a traditional Irish air, first printed in a London songbook in 1775." Yeah, um, does the tune have a name and does anyone think that anyone might want to know the name of it?CountMacula (talk) 13:26, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
