I see there is some question of whether this person's life and story is notable enough to have an article. Logically, the linked-to articles about his brothers should then also come into question: putting aside Ben's personal qualities etc., if his brothers themselves are notable, having a sibling assassinated is an important part of their stories. Of course the content of this article could be embedded in each of those articles, but what's the harm in instead linking each to this one? Michaelgraaf (talk) 14:51, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am a born and bred South African and admin on the Afrikaans Wikipedia, if articles like this is deemed not be important enough then Wikipedia is in trouble. Ben Langa is 100 more important than some these of the quasi singers/actors created on the English Wikipedia. Or is it blatant dicrimination against African content? I don't think it's a conscious plot to delete South African content, but I do wish that WP:WORLDVIEW would be kept in mind before articles are nominated for deletion.Park3r (talk) 07:35, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wish away; that complaint is unrelated to the simple requirements of having x number of sources of y quality for any article, whether it's about an American YouTuber, a Nigerian rapper, or a model of gravel auger. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 17:57, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This was already resolved in AFD, so there's no point resurrecting it here, suffice to say that there actually were WP:RS in Google Books. The fact is that there are plenty of reliable sources on South African topics, but not many web pages. In fact, a lot of web-only content is often a red flag for self-promotion in SA topics. Park3r (talk) 09:53, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it doesn't have to be web content. Citing books is just fine. Someone just has to find the stuff, and frequently that takes subject experts, which an AfD tends to attract. I think ending one by rescuing the article is always the most desirable outcome. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 15:51, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
