Cocha Brava lake in Brazil? Mexicans Kalapalos in Brazilian Amazon?

Either the explorer doesn't know geography or it is bravate. Erico — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.35.136.173 (talk) 01:22, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OR since January 2007 - improvements needed

[edit]

Ahem, this article is slightly all based on "hearsay", Benedict is known for his ego-trips and also for relishing in his own intricate "flowery interpretations" of his expeditions. The fact that the man has travelled mostly alone pre-supposes that he has actively decorated the facts to make his travels sound more adventurous. Piecraft 02:39, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No it doesn't "pre-suppose" that in any way, what conceited and fraudulent logic. Almost all travel writers travel solo for reasons spectacularly clear to all travel writers. lll —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.103.168.21 (talk) 16:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC) Has anyone noticed the tone of this article? It's thoroughly promotional of the subject, and seems to put a stress on his accomplishments.Anhydrobiosis 17:38, 17 January 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anhydrobiosis (talkcontribs) [reply]

Whatever the merits of either side in this debate, what is unquestionably true is that the article is entirely without reliable, independent sources at the moment - it contains lists of Allen's own books and television appearances, none of which are supported by a) full bibliographical details (though we can agree the books do exist) or b) independent reviews of any of the books or television appearances. The article is thus largely WP:OR and has seemingly been so since January 2007. It now urgently needs
  1. cleaning up,
  2. citations, and
  3. quotations from independent reviewers.
