- Oppose: Nominator gives WP:PRIMARYTOPIC as a reason, but there is another Billy Gilmour with probably a better claim to that status. Greenman (talk) 19:08, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not seeing any primary topic here. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:05, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Necrothesp and Greenman: Billy Gilmour (ice hockey) has had thirty-one page views since tracking began on July 2015! With twenty five of them coming this week! It's ridiculous. Dat GuyTalkContribs 10:33, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- No, it's WP:RECENTISM! Of course a footballer playing today is going to get more internet hits than someone who died long before the internet existed. That's common sense. If there was a current premier league footballer called Benjamin Disraeli he'd probably get more hits than the rather famous prime minister too; that doesn't make him the primary topic. The footballer has only had a handful of professional appearances for crying out loud! -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:42, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Necrothesp: Benjamin Disraeli does not have zero pageviews over a span of 1700 days, with the streak only breaking due to mistaken searches. Benjamin Disraeli also is not a start class article. Gilmour the footballer has had a constant flow of pageviews since late 2017. Dat GuyTalkContribs 11:10, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Come on, he's an 18-year-old with a handful of professional appearances. Far too soon for any sort of attempt at primary topic. Be realistic. There are a lot of football fans around. Their enthusiastic search for information on their current fanboy favourite does not equate to primary topic status. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:36, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose - no evidence this is a PRIMARYTOPIC. GiantSnowman 11:32, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment - I've also fixed all the broken incoming links to the Billy Gilmour disambiguation page, the vast majority of which were for the ice hockey player. GiantSnowman 11:34, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Strong Support, I have no idea what's going on in this RM. The footballer has 3549 TIMES as many views as the hockey player. —Xezbeth (talk) 12:53, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- If you have no idea what's going on, read the comments above, and see the guidelines at WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and Wikipedia:Recentism. 'A topic is primary for a term with respect to long-term significance if it has substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term'. 'Articles should be written [...] with attention to the long-term significance of the information included'. No-one can seriously argue that a sports player inducted into the hall of fame for his career achievements is less notable than an 18-year old player with, according to the Wikipedia article, three senior appearances Greenman (talk) 21:30, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- I suggest you read it first. "A topic is primary for a term with respect to usage if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other single topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term." Over 3000 times more likely. —Xezbeth (talk) 09:31, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- Both usage and long-term significance are taken into consideration. Not only usage. The footballer has a lot of page views at the moment, but that certainly doesn't equate to any form of long-term significance. He may be injured and his career over tomorrow for all we know. Then he'll rapidly be forgotten about. Whereas the ice hockey player, with his long-term achievements, will not be. In no way does a handful of appearances equate to primary topic status, however many dribbling footie fans are looking at him at the moment. If he establishes himself as a top player in a few years then that may change, but certainly not yet. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:16, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose. No way is an 18yo with a number of senior team appearances which could be counted on a mutilated hand PTOPIC over a Hall-of-Famer who won five Stanley Cups. This proposal fails WP:PTOPIC#2. Come back when he's won at least one FA Cup. Narky Blert (talk) 12:03, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Change GLASGOW to IRVINE for place of birth. Irvine is in Ayrshire and NOT Glasgow.
Source - Chelsea FC (Billy Gilmour employer) states correct birthplace: https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2020/03/09/all-you-need-to-know-about-billy-gilmour Mark Gillan (talk) 13:49, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, another source from Chelsea states Glasgow: here. I have looked up his birth record at ScotlandsPeople here (you might need an account to view it) and it says the registration district was Saltcoats. That doesn't prove the birthplace either (my sons were born in Glasgow but I registered them in the town I live in - outside the city - the next week, I checked them too and that's how it's displayed), for proof you would have to buy the birth certificate and have it sent out, and that's too much WP:OR to use here. At present, other sources either just state Scotland or on a few, Ardrossan. Hopefully there will be an interview or something soon where he is quoted confirming it, but if we are just relying on secondary sources there's not enough to show it was Irvine. Premier League 2 Accolades
[edit]Given Billy Gilmour won the PL2 POTM earlier this season, along with the fact he might also win PL2 POTS - as he's been nominated. Should these accolades be added to an individual honours section? MG000000000 (talk) 14:16, 23 July 2020 (UTC)

- He's risen significantly in stature since then. Plus, someone above said "Come back when he's won at least one FA Cup". He's now done far more than that - he's won the Champions League and played at Euro 2020. Unreal7 (talk) 17:17, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose for now per Roman Spinner. Gazamp (talk) 17:39, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
- Support the stats in the nom are a tad misleading, as they include the Euros dates (where he had 67k views on one day, which isn't typical at all). Nevertheless, he gets an average of about 3k views on a normal day whilst all other people get under 100. Therefore, almost everyone is looking to the footballer, so the footballer is the clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and we should therefore aid navigation by moving the footballer. And I agree with Unreal7 that they're significantly more notable than at the time of the last RM. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:30, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
