[edit]Rio is the second movie franchise for blue sky studios after Ice Age.
Why do you think Blu could not fly?
[edit]Well, I have watched the movie about twice or so but I thought more carefully about actually why he couldn`t fly.
The most common answer I suppose is he was domesticated and lived that way for about the rest of his life until he made up with Jewel at the end of the movie. But I had a different thought about it. I tried to think more carefully on how the movie was conveyed at the beginning.
Now in the beginning Blu was sleeping in his nest and his parents most likely went out to look for food or they were captured. He was awaken by all the singing and he moved to the edge of his nest to enjoy the warm happiness that surrounds him. "Then he started to raise his wings". Just as he was about to fly....disaster happened, all the birds were suddenly captured.
Do you notice baby Blu`s reaction?--He retracted his wings and his face was showed fear and horror (if you pause that part of the movie and look closely, you will know what I mean). Then he fell unwillingly and failed to fly. This was something that affected deeply in his heart.
And remember what Rafael said about flying; "Flying is not what you think up here (mind), it`s what you feel in here(heart)."
To strengthen my point: Remember the part where Jewel`s wing broke and she fell of the plane. Then, Blu followed after her. OK so what? When Blu was falling, the movie played a short flash back when he fell from the tree as a baby bird which is just the same experience he felt when he dropped himself from the plane. This is my reasoning. If not, why would they put a flash back?
Blu and Roberto's Relation
[edit]So a few months back, on the Rio 2 website, it stated for Blu's bio something like this:
But when Blu discovers a secret of Roberto's their dynamic changes (relationship).
What secret?
1. He and Blu may be long lost brothers. (IDK how he would get to the amazon)
2. He is working with Nigel.
1 is the most likley to happen. Or they removed it as a change of the story. Tell me what you think, or your own theory, updates possibke. RE: Blu and Roberto's Relation There's no need for purposing any theory or hypothesis at this point. The movie was out 3 months ago plus 2 more days and the DVD would be available. The junior novel has also provided us extra info and different perspective of the story. We are now evaluating and analyzing the movie.
Answer to the secret: Roberto hates human because he was onced captured (smuggled to be precise) by them and he can't control himself whenever humans are nearby (logically, your hypothesis has been rejected).
To whoever that posted this within 12 hours ago, have you been watching Rio 2 lately?
