Bobby pins and marijuana

[edit]

"and are quite appropriate for handling the still smokable remains of marijuana cigarettes"
I removed this comment as I felt it inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Roaming27 07:02, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kirby grip?

[edit]

Perhaps it would be good to create a Kirby Grip article that redirected to Bobby Pin? Perhaps somebody will want to know what a Kirby Grip is, and will not think to look at the Bobby Pin in the search results. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 155.92.106.163 (talk) 21:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Robert Pinney?

[edit]

The idea that the "bobby pin" was created by someone with the name "Robert Pinney" ("Bobby" short for "Robert", "Pin" short for "Pinney") seemed too much of a coincidence to believe. I checked the sole reference on the page, and it led to a Facebook page - not necessarily a trustworthy source. This particular one was created at right about the same time that the reference was added to the Wikipedia page. On it, Robert Pinney posts little messages about his daily activities, and about bobby pins - quite a feat, since according to his biographical information he's been dead for over 90 years. Pinney is not shy about this, and discusses his afterlife in some detail. Statements made by people long dead are of course commonly accepted on Wikipedia - but not, I think, those which are made posthumously. Therefore, I am removing the Robert Pinney text. However this does not mean that we can completely rule out Robert Pinney as a possible founder of the bobby pin; just that further research into his existence needs to be conducted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.141.207.57 (talk) 10:55, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Revising Bobby pin page

[edit]

I am planning to add more on the history section. I have found this document that seems sufficient to supply with good information about a bobby pin. I also plan to expand the definition about a bobby pin, rather than the simple definition of it being "a type of hair pin". — Preceding unsigned comment added by NicoleL-NJITWILL (talkcontribs) 20:48, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
