  • article should NOT be merged; this article is about the first book in a long-running series which currently covers 14 books, several manga and collections of short stories, and an anime miniseries, each of which should have its own entry. For precedent, compare to the separate articles for books in the Wheel of Time series, and The Dark Tower series. Luvcraft 20:37, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If no one has any objections, I will rewrite this plot summary into five sub-sections, with a plot summary for each narrator --- it would seem more appropriate, given the nature of the series. Elric of Grans 05:21, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Manga Adaptation

[edit]

Accroding to Wiki guidelines:

In general, do not create separate articles for a different medium belonging to the same franchise, unless:

  1. They differ sharply in plot, characters, or in other major characteristics; or
  2. The article becomes too large.

Since the manga and novel share the same plot and same characters, should the two not be merged into one article? Hellspawn 19:19, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh manga does not appear to actually have an article. It should definitely covered within this article, which currently only mentions it in the lead. I also think the movie should be folded into this article, since only the cast and reception actually differ. Doceirias 19:41, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring more to the fact that the manga has a link in the boogiepop box, even though the article itself doesn't exist, sugessting that at some point it was planned that the manga would have its own article. If this is no longer the case, then the link should be removed.Hellspawn 19:52, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Should the live-action movie also be merged into this article, and the article moved to Boogiepop and Others? It only differs on a few plot points. I'll wait until I hear opinion before acting on this. Hellspawn 22:06, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously, I think so - make a section for the movie merging what little extra information is in the movie article and then put the movie article up for deletion. It deserved an article once, but now that the book is out and has its own article the movie one is just redundant. Doceirias 06:03, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see no reason not to put them all together, with a section about how they each differ (which would be a great addition). Obviously most of the information would be the same, so perhaps use the light novel article as the base and add sections for the manga and movie after the important information. Cast could be merged into characters, though I would personally prefer to keep that to the movie section – whatever works best for everyone else. I am not sure what should be done infobox-wise. Does anyone know any good precedents here we could use as a guide? As for the Boogiepop box, do not pay it much attention. Someone did a drive-by-edit and created it filling it with everything I mentioned in List of Boogiepop media. The short stories should not have separate articles either, but for some reason they are there. I never bothered changing any of that myself, but feel free to be bold. Elric of Grans 09:01, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've done the infobox. The only problem with it is that in the film section I have to have a studio section, so I just inserted "none". I'll begin merging tomorrow then. Hellspawn 21:10, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've now also done a large part of the merger. I've subsequently nominated both the film article and disambiguation page for deletion, and when that's done, I'll move this page to Boogiepop and Others to preserve the history and talk page. Hellspawn 20:05, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My deletion request was declined, so I had to merge the pages manually. Anyway, the new page is Boogiepop and Others. If there are any links out there that still direct to the old pages, tney should probably be changed to the new pagename. Hellspawn 20:24, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Deletion with that many hanging links is guarenteed to be knocked back. I have fixed most of the links, but there are a few I did not find. There were also some double redirects you left, which is a Wikipedia cardinal sin; in future, please check for these. As I was doing this I noticed you do your Wikilinking wrong too. Only Wikilink on the first reference to something, not on every single reference. Elric of Grans 01:05, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New novel review

No time to add this, but Right Turn Only: Best Light Novel I've Ever Read noting it here if someone else wants to beef up the quotes section. Doceirias (talk) 00:33, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
