more nations?

[edit]

Perhaps this should be renamed National land speed records and expanded to include various nations? 70.55.200.211 (talk) 02:57, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Details of records

[edit]

An obvious question is over what distance were the records of Fallows and Newby timed over? Do they get a certificate? How are the records recorded? By the MSA? See: [1] Note some of these records are incorrect. Rupertlt (talk) 10:11, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think this needs updating. Lord Paul Drayson's world record for an electric car under 1000 kg at Elvington on 26 June 2013 (asbout 203 m.p.h.) also stands as an absolute British land speed record for the flying mile in a wheel driven vehicle regardless of weight and powerplant Jlghardy (talk) 21:08, 31 July 2013 (UTC)jlghardy[reply]

New Record Set 2015/05/08

[edit]

Definition of the Flying Mile should be included, as well as the fact that actor Idris Elba set a new record recently. http://www.gizmag.com/bentley-continental-gt-flying-mile/37421/ "A Bentley Continental GT Speed driven by actor Idris Elba has set a new British land speed record. The "Flying Mile" takes the average speed of a vehicle across two rolling-start runs of a mile (1.6 km) each. Elba achieved an average speed of 180.361 mph (290.263 km/h)." 74.61.33.210 (talk) 22:26, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Idris set a course record, not the UK record. We're not listing course records. See Robert Horne at 192mph (gas) or P Drayson at 205mph (electric)) 199.204.56.17 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 16:48, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
