Image verification

[edit]

Is there any verification that this image is from a US Government source, therefore public domain? As far as I can tell, it comes from the AIP Emilio Segre Visual Archives of the American Institute of Physics - not a government body (see terms and conditions). Tearlach, Nope, or does it come from nobel-winners You make the choice. What is a good tag? If it's an org ending there is no profit. If its scanned it must be a copy? Not an original in the first place? Which is more professional to show this nobel laurette? Burt on right eating ice cream I do have that one of Doctor Richter giving me a big old bear hug and he signed for me. He's a really good guy.Scott 23:10, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As the most specifically credited, I think the AIP one looks like the original. There are a few photos around on .gov sites: for instance, this page at the Argonne National Laboratory site. This image is pretty good. Tearlach 01:23, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Doctor Tearlach, Do we really need to delete it? Honestly, I hope not. I hate deletions as you know it flips me out...LOL I'm sure good old Burt would not mind. Anyway Think about it. I'm going Nite Nite and I hope you can accept my apology and madness, Really do feel bad about the whole thing, You may not understand... Regards Scott 01:39, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear introductory sentences

[edit]

The first two sentences are the following:

"Burton Richter (March 22, 1931 – July 18, 2018) was an American physicist. He led the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) team which co-discovered the J/ψ meson in 1974, alongside the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) team led by Samuel Ting for which they won Nobel Prize for Physics in 1976."

It is entirely unclear whom the word "they" refers to in the second sentence!

I hope someone knowledgeable and who also knows how to write a clear sentence (or three) can fix this.

It is neither necessary nor helpful to try to combine too much information in a single sentence! 2601:200:C000:1A0:E0DE:B42E:F714:2E49 (talk) 02:06, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
