Modeled on COVID-19 vaccination mandates in the United States

[edit]

This article may use the COVID-19 vaccination mandates in the United States article as a model for structure, etc. This includes sections on "Background", "Worker and traveler mandates" with a subsection "Private mandates".Oceanflynn (talk) 17:37, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article could also include sections on "Federal vaccine mandates", "Province and territorial vaccine mandates for workers"?, "County and municipal vaccine mandates for workers", "Mandates for entry to private facilities", "Political views", "Legal challenges"Oceanflynn (talk) 17:43, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is proposed for the lead, as the article sections are filled in. "During the peaks of the five waves of the pandemic, some vaccine mandates for workers have been implemented by provinces, territories, municipalities, and private businesses and facilities. Political views on mandates and passports in Canada have been highly polarized. There have been a number of protests on the mandates and public health restrictions, as well as a number of legal challenges to the mandates."Oceanflynn (talk) 18:54, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Separate sections for vaccine passport and vaccine mandates for workers

[edit]

It looks like vaccine passport information is being included in the Province and territorial vaccine mandates for workers section. Can we rename it to Provincial and territorial vaccination requirements so that both vaccine passports and vaccine mandates can be mentioned? Alternatively, we could have two different sections for both topics. --Nsophiay (talk) 19:48, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea. Thanks Nsophiay
I see you have done some great work on Quebec. Could you add some of that content here? Thanks for your contributions.
Was just about to! Thanks for the kind words. --Nsophiay (talk) 20:37, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArriveCan app

[edit]
The ArriveCan app was introduced for travellers arriving in Canada. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says that the ArriveCan app has 'set the stage' for a new system with technological changes to speed up entry to Canada…

It's actually mandatory for reentry now (see https://ca.news.yahoo.com/border-agents-urge-canadians-travelling-080000263.html)—so I was surprised WP's only reference to it was buried in this article. Perhaps it merits a redirect here, if not a page of its own? – AndyFielding (talk) 03:27, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And yes, WP's plain-text editor misformatted that URL (Android 10, Firefox). It'll have to be hand-selected, obviously. – AndyFielding (talk) 03:32, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the ArriveCan app needs to be described more in-depth, but I'm not sure if this article is the right place to do it -- if anyone has input on that question, feel free to chime in. In the meantime though, we could at least add a few more sentences about it on here. --Nsophiay (talk) 20:07, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
