I was doing research prior to creating a page titled "Native Plant Society" or "Washington Native Plant Society," when I found this article, and also Utah native plant society. I think that I will start looking into creating a category for articles about regional native plant societies. However, if there is a global organization that we can merge these other articles into, then that might be a better solution.Michael J Swassing 02:06, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello - I am an employee at CNPS. We are a 50 year old organization and one of many "native plant societies" in the U.S. and Canada. There is no global organization. Each state, (and New England Wildflower Society), are completely separate entities, and are not subsidiaries of the North America Native Plant Society (which was originally founded as the "Canadian Native Plant Society"). - I'm not seeing anything in the article that implies that there is a global organization. Am I missing something, or are you wanting to add something along the lines of "CNPS is one many unrelated societies for native plants in the United States"? I'm not sure that it is necessary to make that point explicitly. It would be more appropriate to make that clarification if we had an article on native plant societies in general (like humane society, which clarifies that local humane societies operate independently with no umbrella organization). Hi, Plantdrew. No, I was referring to the previous talk entry by Michael J. Swassing. Though dated 2007, for some reason it appeared in my Google News Alerts this morning for "California Native Plant Society" as if there was a change to this page, so I was clarifying the answers to the questions he posed for future reference.
