Lead

[edit]

The inclusion of “third wife” and “mistress” has been debated on this page in the past. It is a fact primarily about her husband, not her, and belongs on Newt’s page. It’s too much detail in the lead and is in any event mentioned below in the article, in the personal life section. Cindy McCain isn’t introduced as “the second wife of John McCain.” “Married” is a neutral way of describing the relationship that is appropriate for the lead.

Please look back through the Talk history before changing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rpworth (talkcontribs) 03:03, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a person who contributed to the discussion, there was no strong consensus but in the end, what is she known for. Nobody cares that she runs a production company (occasionally) or that she sang in a choir when she was a teenager. What she's know for is being the mistress of Gingrich while he was castigating Clinton for his infidelities. There were efforts by Joe Desantis to scrub this article of any mention of her history there, but this is where we ended up and the article was stable for months before you came back. She is known, in large part, for being the wife of Newt Gingrich. Your partisan (and factually incorrect – Clinton was impeached for perjury, not for an extramarital affair, and a review of the totality of Gingrich’s comments on the matter will reveal he focused on the perjury) description is a dead giveaway that you have a hostile view of the subject and are not trying to achieve article neutrality, but instead paint the subject in a negative light. --Rpworth 19:29, 12 September 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rpworth (talkcontribs)
Simply googling "Calista Gingrich", you find MANY articles, new and old, that address her "third wife" status and the controversy around that. This was an issue on the campaign trail and has been an issue for her her and her husband in the public sphere. Everything that's in there is supported by reliable sources.Mattnad (talk) 20:13, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Have to agree with Mattnad on this. Tvoz/talk 20:15, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking a neutral editor

[edit]

I have been cleaning up this article with edits that are pretty minor (mostly organization and tense changes) but I want to flag the edit I just made to the Ambassador section of Career. The previous version of this section was entirely based on one negative article about her husband and did not cover what Gingrich actually did while in the role of Ambassador to the Holy See. I replaced the section with new text citing multiple sources in what I believe is a neutral tone. However, I am flagging this for help because I am not a neutral party and am seeking a neutral editor to look at this. Joedesantis1 (talk) 14:40, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Joedesantis1, hello, this is not the proper venue to do this. Please use {{request edit}} to do so. Heart (talk) 04:26, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Or you can use request for comment. Thanks, Heart (talk) 04:28, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@HeartGlow30797: I think you misunderstood this. Joedesantis1 has already made the edit and is asking someone to review it. Kleinpecan (talk) 04:36, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kleinpecan, oh sorry, yes I misread this. Thanks for pointing this out! Heart (talk) 04:37, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kleinpecan, HeartGlow30797, Thank you both. I will keep those tags in mind for the future. Joedesantis1 (talk) 16:15, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
