Expansion
[edit]I am aware that the section on Pastor Bob is the result of a discussion which ended up merging his article into this one, but there is a lot of information here that is not relevant to the church, and the writing used in that section is not really appropriate for Wikipedia. There are too many direct quotes, and it's totally unsourced. I don't want to take a chainsaw to someone's work, but it really needs to be condensed and restructured. The whole article needs to have some of the paragraphs condensed, as it is filled with stubby, one-sentence paragraphs.
Adding in the "See also" and "References" sections actually created enough sections to de-stub the article, so I pulled the first paragraph as the lede, and renamed the rest of the section as "Church activities", which is not precisely what I mean, but it's the best approximation of what the church does (other than the rather obvious Sunday services).
The second reference is a dead link to a Sun-Sentinel article from six years ago; could someone find a working link, or at least find out the citation information for the article (title of article, writer, date, page info, if pulling from an offline source)? I properly formatted the other two citations, and corrected the URL for one of them.
I'm not the best person to deal with this article, but hopefully my changes and comments will spur some interest in improving the article. Horologium t-c 15:46, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Neutrality
[edit]The claims made about certain "arguments" in the court case of Calvary Chapel v. Broward County (?), are hardly neutral or unbiased. The arguments are not presented with any sort of verifiable evidence, only an off-handed link to an article briefly discussing the case in the Sun-Sentinel. In addition, claims made regarding the Calvary Chapel school are not neutral in evidence or viewpoint. Statements about parental involvement, stressing of parental responsibility, etc. have no citations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.225.215.133 (talk) 06:03, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what was posted at the time of the above unsigned comment but a review of the current content regarding the Calvary Chapel vs. Broward County are statements of facts from the case without bias. MauriceC (talk) 22:07, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't really see a reason for this page. It appears to be yet another advertisement for Calvary Chapel. Sliceofmiami (talk) 16:50, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Request for Deletion
[edit]It would appear this is not much more a high profile megachurch than any of the other ten-thousand in the U.S.; sure there will be an occasional controversy, but almost all coverage I can find is either local or intrachurch. As a local I can attest to the relative lack of notoriety. Jackson72 t-c —Preceding undated comment added 06:13, 17 May 2009 (UTC).
Agreed. It appears to be yet another advertising page for Calvary Chapel. Sliceofmiami (talk) 16:50, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Clean up
[edit]I cleaned up the article a bit, prompted by a story from CNN. Originally I was just going to add the new details, but the article needed a lot of work. 72.244.204.164 (talk) 20:47, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
advertisement
[edit]I support the other comments made that this is just an advertisement for a mega church.

Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.
Second half of article (section on the pastor) needs a serious rewrite or outright deletion. It reads a lot like a copyvio or a personal journal of some sort. Until that section is fixed, this can't be anything higher than start. |

Bob Coy continued salary/pension/compensation?
[edit]Hi, does anyone know if the information about Bob Coy still receiving money from CCFTL is correct? "Sources confirm that CCFTL is still on the hook for Coy’s massive salary and compensation package that “exceeds” $500,000 per year in total compensation. We will feature a story about the salary/compensation issue soon."

Clean up editwar in the history
[edit]Could someone get rid of all the edit-warring done between two users in the history? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisrow (talk • contribs) 19:45, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- What exactly do you mean about cleaning up?
- I removed the italic text that the anonymous editor left, so that's already cleaned up. I removed the unsourced list of guest speakers. So that's cleaned-up too. What's left?
- And what exactly do you mean by edit war? The anon continued to restore unsourced content, the removal of which was fully explained exact time. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:16, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
