Emigrated

[edit]
"Born in Hong Kong, her family emigrated to Australia before the Hong Kong handover. She was thus educated in Australia, Cecilia speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, and English with an Aussie accent."

This statement is not very clear. If she emigrated not long before the handover in 1997, e.g. in 1995 she would have been mainly educated in Hong Kong... If she emigrated earlier, it needs to be made clear. I suspect she received at least some education in HK so at the very least, the sentence should be changed to say she was thus mainly/primarily if that is true (if not, it obviously should be changed as appropriate). My understanding is that she actually moved in the mad scrabble just before the HK handover. Apparently she does not do English that well at all (communication problems with her IB boyfriend who is not chinese?) -- I am going to clarify this part after doing some research. novacatz 00:13, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Major BLP problems

[edit]

Over half of the article is taken up by a discussion of who she has dated and a "controversy" over some nude photos which might or might not be her. Most people date and everyone takes off their clothes sometimes. These things are not notable. If she is notable as a singer and actress then the article should be about those things. Also who she is related to is not what should be in the intro paragraph, if it should be in the article at all. Steve Dufour (talk) 16:34, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by over half?? It's just a small paragraph. Rayson 16:48 7 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree, its just that little bit o.0 And also, if you looked into it a bit more, it has been confirmed that it is her in the main article. And you've been in western countries for too long my friend. In the USA, Paris Hilton can produce a porn video, get an award and still manage to pull it off with success up till now. In asia (Hong Kong) you get chased after by the media again and again until you quit, or the story wears off. And with 7 million people focused on a few artists, this will take some time. In short, its something huge and not just "these things are not notable". Perhaps you'll like to participate with more people at the main article's talk page? Or you can leave a message if you don't get anything. Dengero (talk) 00:17, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had a feeling that my being a white American and never having visited China might be part of my problem understanding what this whole thing is all about. I don't plan on doing anything more with the article but at least I brought it to the attention of the WP community. Steve Dufour (talk) 01:47, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Steve, thanks for pointing that out. I did spend more than 15 minutes to decide whether your point was valid or not. But in Hong Kong, this kind of events are huge, and it is way more than just "everyone takes off their clothes sometimes". In fact, the event has been the headline of Apple Daily for 11 consecutive days. As Dengero pointed out, the culture in Asia and the western countries is quite different (I myself have been staying in Toronto for more than 12 years but still could not accept seeing pop-stars taking off their clothes). BTW, you may find visiting China or other Asia countries interesting. Rayson 2:22 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Btw, watch out for the food and weather if you're really going :P Dengero (talk) 03:41, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Happy New Year everyone. :-) Steve Dufour (talk) 04:31, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And make sure you bring your own supply of toilet paper! -- TJRC (talk) 05:44, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I heard it was more than just nude photos - she was actually fellating him.Ndriley97 (talk) 23:03, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
