Move to "Celeste (singer)"?
[edit]Onel5969, Shouldn't this page be located at Celeste (singer)? Celeste Johnson doesn't go by the "Celeste" stagename, however Celeste Waite does. heyitsben!! talk 14:57, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi there HeyitsBen - I don't think so. The American/Italian singer is occasionally referred to by her first name alone. Additionally, WP users might not know the last name of either, and simply type in Celeste (singer), and the dab would give them the option of choosing. When I did the dab fixes for Celeste (singer), most of them were to Johnson, rather than Waite. Onel5969 TT me 15:00, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
- Btw, very nice job on the article. Onel5969 TT me 15:01, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot Onel5969, I really appreciate it. According to the Wikipedia page, it looks like Celeste Johnson fails every clause except possibly #1 of WP:SINGER. I gave her name a Google search and barely got any hits for her. I narrowed the search down to "celeste johnson singer" and further "celeste johnson italian singer" didn't get anything either (except for the one Chicago Tribune article). I'm more of an editor than a deletionist, so I may need a second opinion, however I believe that the article should be deleted. heyitsben!! talk 05:15, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- I don't have an opinion one way or another regarding Johnson, and haven't done a WP:BEFORE, so I wouldn't have a clear understanding of her notability. However, that being said, she did link to several other articles. But if you feel strongly about it, take it to AfD. And keep up the good work on articles. Celeste Waite → Celeste (singer) – I suggest this page be moved and a disambig hatnote is provided for the one other singer who also goes by "Celeste" because of the evident difference in popularity. Due to recent notable awards and listings (see "celeste bbc"; "celeste brit award"), more people will be Google searching for the terms "celeste" and "celeste singer" and will not be getting any hits because the singer is very rarely referred to by "Celeste Waite". I have previously failed at proposing Celeste Johnson for deletion. heyitsben!! talk 20:18, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

- It's not clear that this is the primary topic when there are other notable singers named Celeste (such as Celeste Stoney, Celeste Buckingham, Celeste Carballo, Celeste Legaspi, and Celeste Mendoza). --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 20:26, 3 December 2019 (UTC)- @Ahecht: Those performers go by their full names, however Celeste Waite is a mononymous person, whose stage name is just Celeste. We could also an {{about}} hatnote:
This article is about the English singer-songwriter. For other people named Celeste, see Celeste (name).-heyitsben!! talk 21:20, 3 December 2019 (UTC)- Support @Ahecht: I agree with HeyitsBen that most people searching for Celeste will be looking for this mononymous person. As she is dual nationality I don't think saying English (or more appropriately British) works here, nor does American. I think the ideal would be for her to be Celeste (singer) however if we followed the setup of Mahalia (singer) that would be an ok second option. Presently it is very hard to find this article looking for "Celeste" and especially given she's won an award, people will be searching for her. --XPatchx talk 17:32, 6 December 2019 (UTC)

Should she have jazz added to her genres?
[edit]I keep finding articles stating her music is jazz influenced? Dirke31 (talk) 00:48, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
