[edit]

Charles Thorn is a well known among string theorists and he has published scientific articles in the field of String Theory and Quantum Field Theory with more than 100 cites. He is also an active researcher and physics professor at the University of Florida.

I believe that these facts support his inclusion in Wikipedia.

Decline Speedy Deletion

[edit]

I decided to decline the speedy nom of this article. He appears to have a fairly substantial publication history (125 articles that he was author/co-author if I remember correctly). It would be useful if some specific assertion as to why he is notable could be included in the text. How has he advanced the understanding of string theory? Has he won any awards or recognition in the field? Just a raw CV isn't enough to support an article. If something more along these lines isn't added, I expect this article will be challenged again. Ah, and of course more independent verifiable and reliable sources would be very, very appreciated. Pigman 07:06, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources of info for article

[edit]

From the April 2008 AfD, a few searches for more info on Prof Thorn: "*Keep. Google Scholar comes up with very high citation counts for "CB Thorn"; the top-cited articles are 1875, 430, 307, 302, 257.[1] This historical overview by Peter Goddard [2] supports his importance in the early development of string theory, as does the fact that there's a theorem named for him: Goddard–Thorn theorem.
