Jewishness

[edit]

Should he really be in the 'fictional jews'-section? I can't recall him ever being mentioned as a jew - might just be my memory, though. Could anyone confirm this, and maybe source it?

They're Jewish. See Provenance. Kolindigo 16:59, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a sticky question. According to the creators, the family's religion never has and probably never will be explored on the show, that's not the point of the series. We do know some member of the Eppes family fled the Germans during WWII, and at least one member of this extended family never found her close family after the war. --LadyShelley 23:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I point you to Charlie and Don's exchange over why they were never religious. They're Jewish. Kolindigo 08:12, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And in the same exchange, Don says something about Margaret always having a Christmas tree. As far as heritage is concerned, at least Alan's side of the family is Jewish (as the aunt mentioned in Provenance was on his side of the family); they are not practicing however. Not sure how this affects the original question as I don't know what the parameters for the category entail. --LadyShelley 19:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lemon Merraigne Pie Addiction

[edit]

I think that from the tone in the voice, he was joking about Charlie's addiction. Therefore, should it be under the trivia section? -Diabolos 20:21, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on a whole re-write of this and the other character pages so they are not "in universe" for more on this see the main NUMB3RS article discussion. --LadyShelley 04:26, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Spelling is Meringue. Lemon meringue pie. Linnah (talk) 21:07, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From his highscool yearbook

[edit]

Thought I'd put some notes here in case it is useful later. Info from his highschool yearbook. Season 2 Episode 6 "Soft Target" In this episode we are reminded that Charlie and Don graduated from high school at the same year (despite 5 yr difference in age) and meet one of their classmates, Val Eng. Apparently Charlie had a crush on Val and got into a knock out fight with Don when Don asked her to be his date at the Prom. Val was Charlie's lab partner and was nice to him. Anyway in the yearbook Val and Charlie's pages are next to each other (ie can be seen together when opened) due to the placement by alphabetical order (Val Eng followed by Charles Eppes). Info on Charles Eppes page:

  • Favorite Color: Gray. It somehow suits me.
  • Favorite Season: Fall. The amazing amount of change in mere days.
  • Favorite Person: Galileo. A Man ahead of his time. Even in today's terms.
  • Favorite Artist: Tolchuck. The depth levels in his paintings are astounding and mind boggling.
  • Favorite Writer: Washington Irving. He wrote my all time favorite story.
  • Photo of Charles with caption "Eternal nothingness is okay if you're dressed for it."

From his drivers licence

[edit]

There is a shot of his drivers license in season 2 episode 14 at the very end. It lists some interesting info:

  • Address: 874 Hunter Street Los Angeles, CA 90021
  • Height: 5-7
  • Weight: 145
  • DOB: 9-5-75 (it happened to be his birthday the day that I noticed all of this. Weird).

References Tag

[edit]

Since some references have been added to this page, I wanted to know if it is okay if I removed the "references needed" tag. If it is not, then please let me know which references have problems.SciGal (talk) 14:53, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Needs more information on NSA and attitude toward violence

[edit]

Charlie had NSA security clearance long before the series opens, and has information secret enough that he's required to kill anyone who learns it. He knows specific methods for killing people. (It's amusing that Charlie didn't know the meaning of "defenestration", since he knows the mechanics -- in one episode he says something like "drop someone from 70 feet or higher, works every time".) He's also an impressive marksman.

But in "Uncertainty Principle," Charlie freaked out over indirectly causing the death of an FBI agent. Later, he still objects to carrying a gun or committing violence. Does the show examine this "contradiction"? (Note: I'm only half-way through season 5) Spazquest (talk) 01:47, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
