Service Status

It is questionable to class him as a civilian war casualty, although he is stated to have joined the Merchant Navy. He is commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as a Service officer casualty, Sub Lieutenant (E), Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, with war grave at Haslar Royal Naval Cemetery.
