Chiropractor versus chiropractic degree

[edit]

As long as the article is called chiropractor the lead should in its first sentence define this. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 14:55, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. But a more important question would be: Why is this pov-fork still here? bobrayner (talk) 17:14, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Let's move duplicated content to Chiropractic education

[edit]

The following sections are largely identical:

The content should be merged and then moved to their logical place at Chiropractic_education#Licensure_and_regulation. What are your thoughts? -- Brangifer (talk) 22:08, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds reasonable to me. bobrayner (talk) 02:10, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
An article merge may be better. Smk65536 (talk) 12:55, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Before an article merge I think the page name should be clarified and changed to Chiropractic degree. QuackGuru (talk) 18:34, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like theres a consensus. Should we start doing the merge? Smk65536 (talk) 20:14, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Smk65536 something needs to be done as the chiropractor and Chiropractic education are almost identical and bring up essentially the same material. There is also confusion amongst users which is the academic degree/education page and which is the practitioner. 108.171.131.160 (talk) 21:38, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Smk65536, first I think the title should be changed to Chiropractic degree. QuackGuru (talk) 01:35, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not a summary of the body

[edit]

"A chiropractor is a person who practices chiropractic, a health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health.[1] Chiropractors emphasize manual and manipulative therapy for the treatment of joint dysfunctions. Chiropractic is generally classified as complementary/alternative medicine.[2]"

None of this text in the lede summarises the body. The text has nothing to do with this article. QuackGuru (talk) 08:15, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, You say that Defining a Chiropractor has nothing to do with the article on Chiropractors? WP:COMPETENCE alarm bells are ringing. SPACKlick (talk) 11:16, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This article is about the chiropractic degree not chiropractors specifically. QuackGuru (talk) 11:18, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
QuackGuru is correct, this article is about the degree, not about Chiropractors. Smk65536 (talk) 12:49, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Smk65536, the title is still wrong. The entire page is about the chiropractic degree except for the first sentence. The first sentence doe snot summarise the body because this page is not about chiropractors in general. QuackGuru (talk) 04:07, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps this should be merged into Chiropractic education? Smk65536 (talk) 15:09, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. The degree is about the education. QuackGuru (talk) 18:07, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Things are getting worse

[edit]

"A chiropractor is a person who practices chiropractic, a health care profession specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health.[1] Chiropractors emphasize manual and manipulative therapy for the treatment of joint dysfunctions. Chiropractic is generally classified as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM),[2] with some aspects considered pseudoscientific.[3][4][5]" None of this content belongs in the lede or this article.

User:Bigbeezy123 is partly correctly. Rather than deleting the content first I would recommend changing the title to Chiropractic degree. After the title is changed then the first paragraph should be deleted. QuackGuru (talk) 22:21, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is significant information about whether the practice of chiropractery is quackery or pseudoscience. Thus the heading should be maintained as is. In addition, we know that there is more discussion/information on the subject at the Chiropractic controversy and criticism article, which should be linked to this page for the readers. Also, the heading of this article is 'chiropractor' eg the person who practices, not the educational degree.108.171.131.160 (talk) 21:58, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This page is about the degree. The heading of this article was a mistake. The first paragraph in the lede has turns into a WP:COATRACK which does not summarise the body. QuackGuru (talk) 16:24, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That would incorrect there is a seperate page for Chiropractic education. The problem stems from several users moving and copy-pasting existing articles. This page is clearly about the practitioner not the degree. Information about the degree should located with the education page. For that reason the existing heading for this page is accurate. 108.171.131.160 (talk) 21:34, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is misleading "According to Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Chiropractic Student Loan Default Rates for October 1999, May 2010, and January 2012 are 54%, 53.8%, and 52.8% respectively.[5]" Heal loans are a secondary loan for students that over extend themselves. By 2022 the chiropractic profession will grow by 15% [1] is rated the #1 in job security [2], the 15% equates to over 6000 new jobs and when you account for retirees the number jumps to over 10,000 graduates in ten years. Last time I checked, 893 defaults / 10,000 graduates = under 10%.... your page that your editing is misleading because you're taking a fact about a small minority of graduates and your painting all graduates with that fact.... If your statement were true "Chiropractic Student Loan Default Rates .... 54%, 53.8%, and 52.8%" then the numbers would be 4500ish defaults not 893.
