Fair use rationale for Image:Danverslewisrelay.jpg

[edit]

Image:Danverslewisrelay.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Olympic ban (from the article)

[edit]

The British Olympic Association also banned her from competing at future Olympic Games for Great Britain.[4] She appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but the original decision was upheld.[5]. She appealed against her Olympic ban and it was overturned on November 27. She also stated - in jest - that she would probably leave Britain and compete in the Olympics for another country if her appeal is unsuccessful. [6][7] In the event, her ban was overurned on 27 August 2007, leaving her free to compete for Britain in future games. Her ban was completed on the original date of August 5, 2007.[8]

Don't these two statements contradict? When was the Olympic ban overturned? SeveroTC 22:19, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted. I have now clarified the text which refers to 2 separate bans. - Fayenatic (talk) 08:29, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

World's fastest linguist?

[edit]

"If you're watching track and field events in the coming Olympics, keep an eye out for British runner Christine Ohuruogu, competing in the women's 400m race (she's currently the World Champion in the event). In 2005, Ohuruogu graduated with a degree in linguistics from University College London, and her thesis was all about taboo vocabulary, a popular topic on Language Log.

Today's (UK) Times uses a bit of taboo avoidance to tie her thesis topic to the difficulties she's encountered as a runner (including being banned for a year for missing three drugs tests):"

- This is a wind-up. On BBC television a friend of Christine was interviewed and said Christine had a "good" sense of a humour. I imagine this extract is from Christine or one of her friends. EdGilmour (talk) 17:26, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
