A-class review

[edit]

I am nominating this article for A-class status because it meets all of the criteria. Feel free to give feedback. XR228 (talk) 01:03, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@User:XR228 I think we do have a problem. The Ice Hockey project does not have criteria for A-class. I'm not sure, but I believe we need this to do an A-class review. Is there another set of criteria to use? WP:Hockey does have criteria defined for all other classes, just not A-class. Alaney2k (talk) 03:41, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Alaney2k: Funny enough it was I who wrote most of the criteria ;). For the review, just use both the GA and FA criterias. XR228 (talk) 03:50, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This sentence should be re-written: "The Firebirds hosted four games of the 2023 Calder Cup Finals at Acrisure Arena and established an American Hockey League record for total playoff attendance with 138,053 fans attending 16 postseason games". Is it about the attendance or the Finals? The team had games there in 2024 also. I think the notable part is the AHL record. I think you might want to write about first-season attendance success. Is that notable? Do they have lots of sell-outs, etc.? Alaney2k (talk) 04:28, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alaney2k: Re-wrote that sentence. I couldn't find much about Firebirds sell-outs apart from stuff about the 2023 playoffs, so I doubt there's much we can do about that. Also, could you check this article against the FA criteria? Of course, I assume you have more potential fixes incoming, but I just wanted to remind you. Thanks. I could basically agree to a GA-level right now. Some suggestions to 'complete' the topic:
  1. expand on Bylsma getting hired by the Firebirds. He had previously been an NHL coach with Pittsburgh and Buffalo, had won the Stanley Cup, and had resigned from the Red Wings to look for a head coaching job. See this. Also, I see that he is no longer the coach and there is no mention of that. Add a sentence or two about the new coach. This is common in other hockey team articles.
  2. Was there any city support or Coachella Valley support or campaign etc. to attract the team? Season ticket drive?
  3. How did they select the site, simply to get a land lease? I assume they approached the Foundation?

Finally, I am struggling a bit trying to figure out how to complete an A-Class review. I think we are going down a new path with that for an Ice Hockey article. I might have to ask other eds about that. Alaney2k (talk) 03:49, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Alaney2k: We need two editors to complete an A-class review. @HickoryOughtShirt?4 has agreed to do a review on both articles I nominated (a review has already been done on Philipp Grubauer, so we'll wait for a review here. I’ll make the changes soon (Right now I have 2 FL noms, 1 FA nom, and 2 A-class noms so it's a lot). XR228 (talk) 04:31, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a look at the Grubauer article also. Item 2 - any info on why Coachella Valley in general was chosen? I guess the main point to cover is why did they go there? I don't believe there was any hockey team or hockey history there previously. Alaney2k (talk) 13:19, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alaney2k: I have made the changes. XR228 (talk) 17:26, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please be assured I haven't forgotten about this! I will hopefully get my side done today or tomorrow EST. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:12, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@HickoryOughtShirt?4: Thanks. Also for the Grubauer review, have you checked the article against the FA criteria yet? Nevertheless, I'll complete the things soon. XR228 (talk) 01:20, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@XR228 I'd like to see more on the topics I mentioned. These will make the article more complete. Alaney2k (talk) 17:55, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
