I removed the reference to Marshall Volk, since I could find nothing on this person in Google, making it questionable to list him under "Famous former residents". --PKtm 06:35, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BIlly Joel and Cold Spring Harbor

[edit]

Removed reference to Billy Joel hanging out in "Cold Spring Harbor as a teen" because it is unsourced, and known to be inaccurate by former residents of Cold Spring Harbor. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Missswiss (talkcontribs) 00:34, 22 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Speaking of CSHL not being in CSH...

[edit]

Should Dr. Watson be listed as a resident of Cold Spring Harbor? His home is in Nassau County on the CSHL grounds. -- MacAddct  1984 (talkcontribs) 18:55, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oheka Castle Hotel And Estate

[edit]

I removed Oheka Castle from the Cold Spring Harbor page. Oheka Castle is in a part of Huntington, NY that has always been significantly outside the perimeters of Cold Spring Harbor. The area was dubbed "Cold Spring Hills" in the 1950s primarily by businesses located there and realtors -- to capitalize on the name prestige and positive reputation of Cold Spring Harbor, perhaps particularly for people who might not fit the traditional demographic of wealthy, WASPy Cold Spring Harbor. The founding charter of the Cold Spring Hills Civic Association states its purpose: "to promote and stimulate active participation and the civic and social interests in that part of Huntington known as Cold Spring Hills, so that through these efforts and cooperation, the members of the said corporation may effectively influence the welfare and property interests and uphold the vested property rights of the residents of Cold Spring Hills." Cold Spring Hills is not now, nor has it EVER been, considered Cold Spring Harbor, and should be cited only on a Huntington NY page, or possibly a "Woodbury NY" page if such a thing exists.
