Sandbox for Conan (film)

[edit]

This is just a notice that I have created a sandbox for the planned Conan film to be used as the actual article once the has entered principal photography. Please feel free to comment and contribute. -- Harish (Talk) - 02:15, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stephen Lang's character

[edit]

His character is called Khalar Zym and not Khalar Singh as was previously reported. See this reference. [1] So please bear this in mind when contributing to the article. The Editor 155 (talk) 18:26, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning Howard McCain, Dirk Blackman & Steve Jablonsky

[edit]

Hello,

Howard McCain & Dirk Blackman have written a script, but not for this movie. Maybe for the second one.

Steve Jablonsky isn't the composer of the movie. Fantasy.fr asked to Mr Fredrick Malmberg (producer of the movie & CO of Paradox Entertainment) and he said : "I have not heard of Mr jablonsky and we are looking at composers currently."

Best regards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.61.104.145 (talk) 15:06, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have not seen independent confirmation of this elsewhere. Wikipedia's being cited as a source! Kortoso (talk) 22:47, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Loud mistake

[edit]

The title of the movie is simply Conan, not Conan 3D. Conan (3D) could be a correct title for the article, but not Conan 3D... Kintaro (talk) 12:31, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here are sources that call the film Conan 3D (which was previous called Conan the Barberian). Box Office Mojo, /Film, IGN, Collider. Wikipedia's film naming guidelines do not say anything about adding "(3D)" next to a title. 3D is part of this title. Mike Allen 21:41, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Guys this just in, Conan is to be titled Conan The Barbarian according to: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?view=titlechanges&p=.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.147.224.225 (talk) 02:46, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the update! —Mike Allen 02:59, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Teaser poster"

[edit]

That poster is obviously fan made, inspired by the king Arthur & Excalibur legends. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.29.235.2 (talk) 11:10, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad someone else finally said something (I made a comment on the image's discussion page, but no-one noticed it). I'll take it down. Knyght27 (talk) 01:16, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Release date

[edit]

Release date for Asia is August 17. I just finished watching the film.

Disputed

[edit]

I know that the info is sourced, but there are so many differences between what's presented here and the actual movie. For example, Rachel Nichols' character was never being trained to be a Queen's servant. Her character was the last descendant of a clan of "pure-blooded" race, who was being sought after because her blood could raise Khalar Zym's murdered wife and give him unlimited powers. There was never a plot by Ukafa to overtake power at any stage in the film. Cheren never appeared in the film, or if they did, it wasn't under the story line specified here. "When Khalar Zym, a powerful warlord with ambitions to become the king of Acheron, storms the monastery and captures all of the novitiates, she is separated from Ilira, the one she must protect. With all of her strength and will, Tamara is determined to find and rescue her. She finds herself in league with Conan because of a mutual need to find Khalar Zym. She is not in the least intimidated by Conan’s size or grim demeanor and their alliance eventually blossoms into something that surprises them both" None of this happened. Page needs to be updated with newly sourced info, as much of the sources are more than a year old and the plot/roles may have been changed/updated since the time they were written. Yeah, I just saw this, a lot of this information is incorrect or outdated. The stuff about Ukafa is also wrong, I certainly never saw any of that in the film. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 21:53, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Would Be Nice

[edit]

When updating the plot information, please include which book, if any, where referenced for the movie script. Thank You! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.108.16.65 (talk) 13:54, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Katarzyna Wolejnio

[edit]

Katarzyna Wolejnio is a Polish actress... does she hold a role in the movie? She's credited as Valeria in some websites. Mentioned in IMDB, here, on her own IMDB page, and here, the IMDB credits of Conan. There's a photo of Wolejnio with Momoa, during the shooting, and there are more photos of her while shooting Conan scenes... but I saw the movie and I can not remember any Valeria... was the character removed from the final plot and editing of the film? Kintaro (talk) 09:51, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, what?

[edit]

During the Hyborean Age, a group of sorcerers from Acheron created a mask from the skulls of dead kings and sacrificed their pure blood daughters to the dark gods in order to give the mask the power to subjugate the entire world. After killing countless people in their crusade to conquer the planet, the sorcerers were defeated by the barbarians led by Corin (Ron Perlman), who destroys the mask, scattering the pieces across the land, and keeping one for himself. Shortly thereafter, in a battle against a rival tribe, Corin's wife gives birth to their son, Conan (Leo Howard). I saw this last night. I'm pretty sure the events with the creation and destruction of the mask were supposed to have taken place a thousand years or so in the past, before the Hyborean age began. Not merely one generation ago. (The master in the monastery, for example, said Pure Blood line had died out a thousand years ago). Was it really Conan's father who lead the barbarians then, or had he just inherited the guardianship on the fragment? Wardog (talk) 19:56, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're right; the creation and destruction of the mask took place thousands of years in the past. That summary is wrong, and I've fixed it. —Lowellian (reply) 22:58, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conan the Barbarian (2011 film) is a film remake

[edit]

The 2011 film is a remake of the 1982 film. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmouraquaresma (talkcontribs) 15:10, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on what you mean by remake but broadly speaking no, it is not a remake, it is a different film that happens to have the same main character in it. -- 13:31, 1 July 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.76.234.100 (talk)
