Suggest Merge
[edit]I suggest this article be merged with Conrad Weiser House, which focuses on the National Historic Landmark designation. The Homestead article should be the main article. Jllm06 (talk) 14:32, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- I support the merge. Dincher (talk) 21:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- I support it as well. Weiser's biography should be separate; everything else is redundant. Daniel Case (talk) 03:46, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- I too support the merge. Alphageekpa (talk) 14:19, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

It was merged. Dincher (talk) 19:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Proposed closure
[edit]On 4 March 2009, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) released a study of its 22 museums and historic sites, here: "Planning Our Future: Sustainability Committee Final Report". It recommended discontinuing operations at six of its sites, four of which are National Historic Landmarks. Proposed cuts to the PHMC budget mean these sites could close as early as July 1, 2009:
- Brandywine Battlefield (NHL)
- Bushy Run Battlefield (NHL)
- Conrad Weiser House (NHL)
- Fort Pitt Museum
- Joseph Priestley House (NHL)
- US Brig Niagara (museum ship)
Contact information for the Governor and Director of the PHMC are here for anyone interested in commenting on the proposal. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:16, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

heavy copyedit needed
[edit]This page needs a heavy copyedit to remove duplicative material. However, I don't have the time, so I just trimmed the part about the 2008-2009 closing controversy and updated re the current situation (buildings open first Sundays, else just grounds). Complicating matters, the cited index page of the Friends website has severe problems (basically just a picture and phone number, no links). Googling I came upon the possible old index http://www.conradweiserhomestead.org/about-1.html which has information and may be the real source of the existing refs. It crazily showed the subsequent words and tildas as a web link until I clicked on preview mode, then just showed the tildas which become my signature in red. Go figure, or edit :) Jweaver28 (talk) 15:11, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
