I noted this phrase attached to that entry: "consisting of the Juarez Segment, the Huayacocotla Segment, the Victoria Segment, and the Nuevoleones Cordillera" [Cordeilla de Neuvo Leon in Spanish?). What are these "Segments"? - is that a term in English or a translation from Spanish? An article on the Mexican Cordillera is definitely needed, although here I'm gathering that the Sierra Madre del Sur isn't part of it....unless those segments are geologic terms, here being used as if they were toponymic units? Guess I'll look in Spanish Wikipedia and what maps of Mexico's mountain ranges I can find....just wondering.....and red-linking those in case someone would care to oblige blue-ifying them...Skookum1 (talk) 03:46, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As a Wikipedia reader who sometimes edits, I am confused the names American Cordillera, Pacific Cordillera, and Western Cordillera (North America). I've been reading some of the discussion on these pages, and I get the impression the term Western Cordillera (North America) was agreed upon as the real thing, and American Cordillera refers to the portion in the USA and Pacific Cordillera refers to the portion in Canada. Is that true? If so, then I think the list of cordilleras should list Western Cordillera (North America) and parenthetically refer to the other two as "see also".--Brambleshire (talk) 20:28, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
