Can someone edit the release date for the prelude album?

[edit]

August 28. 2007 (Has Motown confirmed)

Nelly has now said the album is called "i give a fuck about my haters!!!!!!! and will come out "some time in September."

His Future

[edit]

Hey, I know most people wouldn't know this, but does anyone know if, or when he's releasing a new album? Like, after Sweatsuit. If anyone knows, tell me please!!

Hey, Nelly's next album is to be called N.E.L.L.Y.

Yes He does, but are you sure about the new name of the Album??? Maybe, it will be called The Prelude or St. Louis Spirrut (...E.I. your Derrty from Germany, I got all answers 4 Nelly, my icq:308822372 ask me.;-))

U City

[edit]

The article describes University City as 'suburban'. I have spent parts of my life in and around U City, and I do not think suburban is a fitting description, especially compared with other suburbsin the area.

Other

[edit]

Just a question...why was the information about "Pimp Juice" taken out of the article? Is it too new to report on just yet?

Well, User:Zoe removed it, so only she can report her reasons, but I'll take a guess. Saying that something is "currently climbing up the charts" is mildly POV because it implies that the climbing will continue and some observers feel that Nelly is a talentless hack whose 15 minutes are already over. More importantly than that relatively minor issue is that it dates the article -- only a few really, really big singles "climb up the charts" for more than a few weeks. Wikipedia is not a source for current chart information. The fact that it was released can be added, preferably with a date or some other kinda info about it, and once it is no longer climbing up the charts, its peak rank can be added. Tuf-Kat
Thanks, TUF, yes, that was my reasoning exactly. -- Zoe

I read someone that Nelly is dating Ashanti is that old news or new? Just want to say that I love the song "MY PlACE" It was tastefully done. I don't watch the the videos that girls shaking there fanny all over the place. But this Video I definately have it recorded it on my dvd recorder and listen to it on repeat on my pocket pc. --Mzb 08:47, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Odd--no one ever re-added the info on "Pimp Juice", so I don't follow Zoe's logic, even 18 months later.172.145.159.139 04:56, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Nelly from Texas

[edit]

Googled Nelly and came up with several different links stating Nelly was born in Austin, moved to Spain and then St. Louis. Changed article to reflect that and added Texas category back. maltmomma 01:51, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)Nelly is my hero me too

I am editing the page to reflect Nelly's St. Louis roots more. He is obviously proud of St. Louis and emphasizing the area he was born in does not give insight into Nelly. His major musical career, pride, and heritage is in St. Louis. Let's make sure people know that...

Another Question... Who is Quinessa Bryant? Has someone just made her up or stuck their own name in there as who Nelly's engaged to? Last I heard he and Ashanti were an item?

could somebody please add another picture opf nelly i bet there have got to be thousands of them floating around

STOP THE SPAM

[edit]

This is an encyclopaedic article on the person, NOT A GUESTBOOK. This is the talk page for discussing changes to the Nelly article. Also sign your comments with 4 tildes (~). The spam that was on this page (E.G. i really love nelly i just dont like when people talk about how kelly and ashanti go with nelly it make me so mad. i am his #1 fan because 2 is not a winner and 3 nobody remeber.) before has been removed. huntersquid 17:29, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mate, You got a point, I hate it when people write all those stupid comments!

He won it. Would be nice if it showed up in the article. You know just to demonstrate how versatile he is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.142.238.51 (talkcontribs)

Birth Year is wrong

[edit]

He is not 32 years old right now. He was born in 1978 not 1974 so he is 28... Obviously if his older sister Jackie died last year at age 31 he could not be 32 now.

No he was born in 1974. He was like a year younger than his sister.

Nelly is 32, is birthday is 2 November 1974, so the page is not right, not 1978. Entry on Texas birth index: Haynes, Cornell Iral M 1974-11-02. --Fallout boy 21:58, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If the Texas birth index quotes 1974 (as above), why does the main article quote the same source as proving a 1975 birth date ? Anyhow, he was born 2 November 1973, or my name is Nelly. (Please sign your comments. Four tildes (~) is all it takes - thanks)
Derek R Bullamore 20:16, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So what year was he born then? In the main article, it says 1974, but in the background information, it says 1978. So either he was 19 when his daughter was born, or 15- SCB '92 09:06, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've cited it as November 2, 1974, based on IMDB. Do not change the article without first providing a contrary source here on talk. Superm401 - Talk 04:27, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UK Number Ones

[edit]

On the UK Singles Chart he has had 3 number ones (4 if you count his few lines on Nasty Girl by Notorious B.I.G, but then again, pretty much everyone in hip-hop had something to do with that) NOT 5 number ones, and he has not had the most number ones by a rapper in the UK - Eminem has had 6 number ones in the UK. Just to make that clear. --Tyron1 07:03, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Feud with KRS-One

[edit]

Is there a source on this? Also, the paragraph uses some obvious weasle words. 69.156.136.174 03:01, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure he did have a feud with krs-one, because krs-one stands for true and meaningful hip-hop not the crap nelly makes.

EI means eat it

[edit]

From what i understood EI meant eat it, a reference to fellatio. While perhaps not the most credible and reliable source, this is also confimed by the first entry for ei in urban dictionary http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ei

MuchMusic had an interview with Nelly many years ago during E.I.'s peak and asked "What does E.I. mean" and Nelly described it as a saying he used, often as a boast. He used the example of playing Basketball, where you dunk over someone and at the end of it, you finish with an "E.I." What is the meaning of that? Obviously you can tell it's not a whole lot and therefore I wouldn't go putting a "meaning" on it either way. With that said, I would definitely not refer to it as anything to deal with fellatio. It's a slang term and "in your face" at most, it is what it is, it's just not that.

Glory

[edit]

Nelly makes a cameo appearance in the movie "Glory" as a wounded African-American soldier.'

I'm not sure how true this is. Nelly would have been 15 when this movie came out (1989) and I know there were some younger boys playing the band, but most of the soldiers were in their 20s, 30s, 40s. IMDB doesn't list him as being in the cast, even as uncredited. Is there any fact behind this? Morhange 19:28, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Opinionated And Wrong Information

[edit]

How can someone be 33% Vietnamese? No source either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.107.154.6 (talk) 13:40, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's quite a bit within the profile and when I have time, I'll pin out some more. For now, these need to be dealt with.

In Triva, Nelly's daughter Chanel can be heard on the intro to his song "cummin on whores boobies" on the album "Suit".

There's no such song and that reference should not be made.

The clothing line is called Vokal ... simply put, with no 'k or anything of the sorts. Reference is www.vokal.com I don't agree with the "Marketed a clothing line before his music career" either ... I wouldn't use that wording since it was a means of raising funds in the St. Lunatics young career (selling T-Shirts out of the back of their trunk in St. Louis). Vokal T-Shirts can be seen in Nelly's video for "Country Grammar" and was developed into a full clothing line into the years later ... I own so much, I pratically run the company :p Literally.

A better description could be made for Apple Bottoms, Nelly's female clothing line as it has been a success story in its own right.

And finally, with the credits, mentions Nelly's movies and the fact that Snipes was in the beginning of his career but was not released because of his "terrible acting" ... Snipes actually made it onto VHS and DVD (which I own both of) and has been featured on BET. It was a very early project but successful in its own right.

More to come. I do not run but can be found on the DemBoyz.Org website, where any of those members can back up what I'm saying. My name is also associated with being the biggest St. Lunatic fan ... ever. Thank you, I'll be available after the show.

[edit]

In the featured singles table, somone should add this information:

Get Loose (T.I. featuring Nelly) - Urban legend Mickel The Vain 05:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

April 9, 2007 - Though scheduled to, "Get Loose" off T.I.'s album never actually came out officially (if you want to include videos and what not) however you're correct in noting it as a significant single for T.I. with Nelly on it ... it was rumoured to be a lead single but a next single was dropped (and T.I. started working the next album). "Get Loose" was big enough to be pressed in vinyl however.

Are there any sources for all this? --Mel Etitis (Talk) 18:48, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The source is my mouth, - DaVibe lol No one has written up on it but following Nelly's history, it's known information. Also the "Get Loose" single I have on vinyl in my bedroom.

Move article

[edit]

Shouldn't this article be moved? The Nelly article should be the disambig page, shouldn't it? — « hippi ippi » 09:07, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of band aid?

Birth name etc

[edit]

Was he not originally named Cornell Iral Hayes Jr ? Plus, was he born in Austin, Texas,[1] or even Dallas, Texas,[2] rather than St. Louis, Missouri ?? It is a complete nonsense that Wikipedia can not get the place of birth correct - never mind the date of birth - see earlier comments !
