Should this article be merged with "Tobin tax?"
[edit]Should this article be merged with the article "Tobin tax?"
I recommend strongly against merging it with "Tobin tax" for the following reasons:
- This article acts as a broader category which contains all the types of currency transaction taxes. Categorizing things in terms of sets and subsets is is a more clear way to build the architecture of Wikipedia.
- So far, there are already two types of currency transaction taxes. There may be more in the future. Therefore retaining this as a distinct article is using foresight.
- The two types of currency transaction taxes that have so far been conceived, are both eponyms and are therefore susceptible to ambiguity. The term "currency transaction tax" is not an eponym and is therefore not subject to ambiguity. For an important explanation of this ambiguity, see this link

No opposers quoted
[edit]Currently the 'Evaluation' section only lists supporters and quotes their arguments and not opposers or their arguments. This could be taken from the Tobin Tax article, there's a number to pick from. 90.220.248.114 (talk) 18:53, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Feel free to add them. I will try to do so when I have time. - Boyd Reimer (talk) 17:28, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

"APT tax" discussion should be moved out of this article
[edit]The APT tax is a Financial transaction tax but not a currency transaction tax in the sense of involving multiple currencies. I think including it here reduces the clarity and focus of the topic.
I would make this change more aggressively myself, but I'm not sure where to put the info, and I'm worried about it being taken as vandalism. 73.63.250.211 (talk) 06:03, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
